The imagery is also a lot more funny.
Umm, yeah, I was wrong about he gtk thing.. for some reason my brain had read gnome or something. Which I'll maintain is yuk. As is kde.
.... using car radiators has been around for years. many sites have advertised that the best way to cheaply get into watercooling involves buying a car heater radiator, which is at least smaller than a full car radiator, and if you're using second hand parts also a lot cleaner.
Same goes for people thinking for the last few years that modding is a new thing. I remember people soldering 486's onto their heatsinks in ovens in like 1994. That's at least a decade ago, and before that people were doing crazy things swapping clock crystals to overclock things. These aren't new ideas. There's nothing original. These people are just slow catching on, and think they're a big deal cos they finally got something done. Big deal.
This may appear off topic but gives insight into the naive mind of schools of IT or infoSys at uni's....
What Ray Yang said is oh so true... at my uni it's called the 'school of information systems technology' they are completely and utterly incompetent, as opposed to our school of computer science and engineering which has an aura of plentiful goodness.
someone else mentioned 'those who cannot do, teach.'... that also nails it... school of info sys is involved with the middle management side of things.. one of our CS lecturers got in trouble because he spoofed infoSys in a lecture saying they were gunna show you how to unwrap the msOffice box. The lecturers there are the ones that can't make it in the real world... if they were good managers they'd be getting paid more than a lecturer... and they're sure as hell not at uni to do research... what infoSys research can u do?...what the best colours are for your bar graphs?
I had a rex6000 years ago that did all this.
it was a pcmcia card that had a touchscreen taking up one whole side of it. good resolution worked very well till i sat on it.... and yeah synced by slotting into the laptop.
shame it was discontinued.. i was actually VERY happy with it.
...putting aside the more significant part of your post that was trolling, you're also incorrect....
pda's are far from useless, and as such are unlikely to ever be a failure.. as someone said, they're a 'tool'... I had one that was the size of a pcmcia card... the whole thing was a touchpad.. rex6000, this was several years ago and it was awesome... when u were entering data most of the screen became a keyboard with one line showing what u were inputting but in retrospect i think that was by far the best design.. it was easy to type on, a tiny device that fit in my wallet and really didn't cause any problems... It was always on hand for any random bit of information i had to remember, kept it organised so I wouldn't lose it like random bits of paper, and you wouldn't think you'd use the scheduling things but they're awesome... the number of things i would've had better organisation about if i still had it.
unfortunately my wallet got stolen 2 years ago.:(..... the ass-stomping I would give whoever was responsible if I ever found 'em...
oh and I forgot.. your comment about people with pda's being useless?... umm.. look at their salaries. Someone must value them. Funny.
doh forgot to mention.. mines a 233...heh.. undocumented jumpers on the vs440fx mobo let you do up to 266. supposedly... by trial and error i found which ones give u 233, and wasn't bothered to look for 266.
....it's true.. pentium pro's still go hard.... it was my main machine till late 2001 and I still use it a hell of a lot as a (random)server/bridge between wireless and the network.... it was reasonable in win98, faster in xp for some weird reason, solid in nt, now running gentoo for a while and i'm thinking of switching it to freebsd soon. (contrary to what too many people on slashdot think, I'm not convinced freeBSD is dieing... I'm a recent convert, I've seen the light. Guess what my main desktop runs... go on, I dare ya.
those who keep saying 'by inventing better ways to kill people i'm saving americans' are being naive....eventually someone else will copy your technology.... nukes stopped you wasting lives on invading japan?.. yeah, probably, but look at how safe a lot of lives are now when things keep flaring up with north korea or whoever else......if u invent railguns, someone will figure out how u did it, and start shooting down space shuttles or god knows what eventually.. probably without a huge investment, and it might only take 1 man.
...I love it.. they'll bitch about mp3's being of lower quality when cds are already bad enough as it is. digital formats can never record something properly.. you know things are gunna be truncated. Some of us still use the superior black flying saucers your parents might have listened to.. unfortunately its true that they can get scratched too easily and all the rest of it but if u have a decent turntable and all the rest of it you should be able to play 'em over and over and over again and it'll still be better than any cd.
:P... from my standpoint think the political mess in star wars episode 1 or something.. 'i can see that the republic ceases to function anymore..' or whatever the line is.
our law system sucks for the most part, it could be vastly improved. it relies on a system of precedents. Previous similar cases will decide what happens in the current one, its sort of arranged such that cases won't contradict each other or make a judge look stupid.... I doubt theres any precedents for something like this so its sort of up in the air and could go either way, but I really can't imagine it being something australian citizens have any defense against. hell, we don't even have a bill of rights.
... hehe.. the reason you guys have that crap is because u like it!:P... australians export all the bad stuff and keep the good stuff for themselves.. why the british are so enamoured with such a crap show as neighbours we have no idea. I don't think I know anyone that has watched a full show of neighbours, and at the moment i'm living with 200 people in a college on campus at uni... for the record we don't watch crocodile hunter either, no point, we're all just like him, the same as all americans are just like the people we see in 'friends' or are funny nutters like george double yurr bush.
there's things seriously wrong with the cable company installing stuff on peoples computers (without asking) that will monitor they're demographics and report information about them (perhaps without them even knowing).....someone should be able to sue the.. [unwanted kids] for this.. sure them for all they got:P !!
.... pcb's aren't exactly eco friendly.... i think in one of neal stephensons fiction books they're used as currency because of the fact that they aren't biodegradable and will be around forever.. imo this is all marketing pitch.. i mean yeah, its more friendly than the average pc, but its still guna leave a mark on the environment, quite a visible one.

yuk! gtk! Fluxbox is much nicer anyway.

you're an idiot.
