So did I. Correlation only. Zero evidence of any mechanism to cause BPA and heart disease.
And I don't think it's much of a stretch to conclude that people who consume quantities of food and drink from plastic containers might have a somewhat less healthly lifestyle than those who don't.
Another thing about detecting BPA in peaple's bodies. With each new generation of analytical equipment, we gain another decade of sensitivity. Almost anything can now be detected in anything.
OTOH, my tropical fish would die if I left my stock water in 5 gallon jugs longer than a week or so.
Well, I can go out to the garage, plug in my genuine real iron PDP 8/L and toggle in a program to increment the accumulator and loop. Almost from memory. And I used the same program when I worked for DEC in '73.

Sequoia Voting Systems supports third party reviews and testing of its election equipment
In response to some recent media reports, Sequoia is has issued a statement found at . Through this statement, we hope to educate individuals on the third party review mechanisms already in place in the election industry as well as our company's business practices regarding third party reviews and testing of its election equipment.
An independent review of a voting system is a complex and interdisciplinary process involving a broad knowledge of election law, public administration and technical matters. Many independent reviews have been successfully conducted within the framework of Sequoia's license rights pursuant to appropriate and mutually agreeable arrangements between Sequoia and governmental agencies charged by law with the authority to conduct such reviews. Sequoia welcomes all such responsibly executed review activities.
Please see the Election Technology Council's "Guidelines for States conducting Top-to-Bottom Reviews" found on the organization's website at for additional information.
What we really need is standardized low voltage supplies, target devices and connectors. Then the "outlet" strip could have a single, high efficiency converter with multiple outputs.
I don't know if engineers are philosophically predesposed to be terrorists. They are, however, the best trained individuals to plan and execute a terrorist act.
Many of us are intimately familar with society's infrastructure, are able to obtain items normally not available to the general public, and are comfortable and knowledgeable enough to social-engineer our way into areas normally off-limits to the public.
Ok, I'm a business owner and that makes it hard for me to be a Demo. Furthermore, I'm a California citizen and I'm generally opposed to "Moonbeam" Jerry Brown and his environmental soapbox posing. So you see, I'm not a screeming liberal by any means.
That said, this just really sucks. The Freedom of Information act was possibly the most effective means to hold the government accountable in my lifetime. Bush and company have no respect for it and think that they can arbitrarily ignore it. In the words of Emo Philips, "They need to be tought a lesson". Run their asses back to Texas along with all their followers, cronies and hacks. I'm greatly sick of all of this.
I got a TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) for Beal AFB, along with a message that they are using their bird to help with the fires. Global Hawks are the only aircraft at Beal that need a TFR to launch.
Just like the battle over 2nd ammendment gun control rights. The debate has gone on for about 40 years with both sides posturing and neither seeing a definitive supreme court decision. I think they both secretly like it that way.
Both sides had 40 years of screeming to their constituents for more money to fight the other side.
Will vary with the length of time the computer has been off. There is a suprising amount of non-volatileness in DRAM. I liked Alan Touring's suggestion that all computers come equiped with a small radioactive source and detector. The random breakdown and emission of the source is an almost ideal random number generator. It wouldn't take a source any bigger than we now have in a smoke detector.
"Even a dead cat dropped off a roof will bounce a little" The stock will bounce up a little bit with the announcement and the investors will have a chance to mitigate their losses slightly.
Yawn./sbin/shutdown -h now
What's your point? That it must have been useful because I read it? No. It wasn't.
The issue is the dumbing down of slashdot, once an insightful and witty place, into a forum of "firm grasp of the obvious" articles and posts.
This is essentially a political problem. First of all, make sure the school staff, ie principal, superintendant, computer lab teacher all support your goals. If they don't, keep your day job. Once you have their support and suggestions as to how to proceed, meet with each school board member individually. Find the one that is most supportive and ask him to put the topic on the agenda. Be at the meeting in suit and tie. Expect a committee to be formed or assigned to study the problem. It will take time.

Besides, "List of Demands" would be more accurate.

How do we know that it hasn't already gone off, and the burst is due to hit us in say, 10 minutes?

Interesting. I was unaware of that phenomina. I know there is a big issue with high-altitude nuclear explosions and EMP pulse.
Yeah, but if another someone detonated 3 or 4 nukes about 100 miles up in the atmosphere, the GPS sats would be gone for good.

My farts and your breath.
I don't see EMI on the list. Are they there under a different name? Or do they deserve our business because they *don't* belong to the pigopolists?

When Wall Street Journal *technical* articles are posted as "news for nerds"
