  1. Manufacturer? on LCD Monitors with Dead Pixels/Columns for Sale? · · Score: 5, Informative

Why not contact the manufacturers themselves, and asking for some of their 'grade-b' stuff? I'm sure they'll be happy to either tell you to buzz off, or send you oodles of broken monitors for little more than shipping.

You also might want to look for places that repair them, and other monitors of that nature. Computer shops, in other words.

Another place might be your local neighborhood TV repair shop. But this might be stretching it a bit, because I've found that most of the shops these days are filled with idiots that wouldn't know the right end of a monitor to look at, let alone fix the innards of it.

And if that all fails, then goto the junkyard and look in the newer SUV's and Van's for the LCD screens that come in some of them... and hope that the grizzled old guy behind the counter doesn't realize that is worth 500 bucks... And doesn't want you to pay with ass-dollars...

This is what I've been looking for--the net install disks. Thank you.

However, the lack of a CD-burner problem still remains; I have a 60 GB RAID-0 formatted as NTFS that I wish to turn into a disk that I can use in Linux. And AFAIK, there isn't anything to convert NTFS to EXT2/3, and I need some of those files (drivers, mp3/OGG, pictures (vacation, not porn), etc.) off of it.

I know I can read the NTFS disk, but that doesn't help me at all as I want to actually use the disk as a read/writeable disk--not a read-only disc.

So you see, the CD-Burner wasn't just for the ISO's (I didn't know about the net install at the time) to be burned. It was to preserve my files on the migration over to the new system.

But thank you for the honest and informative reply to my questions, even when they were OT.

    Because I'm still running WindowsXP.

I'd like to switch--I really would. I can't burn the ISO's of the CD's because my burner won't work, and I can't buy the boxed set 'cause I'm broke.

I'm gonna buy the 52x24x52 burner next pay. But until then, I'm stuck in Windows.

I know I've seen on this thread the hatred for modem users and their effect on the multiplayer games... they make them so PAINFULLY slow, that its unbearable to even try and play. I've got DSL, and unless I'm the server, I HATE playing online because of the LAG.

And to everyone who says "Well, its not _that_ bad." is just fooling themselves.

I never bought Quake3. why? because I hate lan games. and besides ID never wanted that one to fly that well anyway--they were making that game purely for the licensing of the engine. Which is making lots of cash I hear...

The rule of the world is that for every one person who likes something, there is another person who dislikes it with just as much. I personally don't give a hoot about online play. I've got a super-fast computer, that can do billions of operations a second. I want my games to look, feel, react, move, and think as realistically as absolutely possible.

I wanted to know exactly how far could we get with realism, and I came upon some algorithm that can accurately simulate the flow of water, mud, syrup, etc. etc...

the game I want is the game that is simply so real, and so detailed, that it would be up to the MOD community to make games for it.

Can you imagine a engine that was just SO good, that anything was possible? How about realistic flight, that uses the density of air and the physics of it over the wings to truly give a unique and different feel to each plane in the game? Same thing goes for cars, bikes, carts, 4-wheelers, ect. ect. If you coded in the BASIC rules of our world, then the game world would simply fall into place.

But, I'm just a lowly coder who knows noting more than a few shell scripts and a teensy amount of C. so I don't get to voice my opinion... oh wait. ^_-
