Besides growing your own... Check the ground spot (it's a yellowish spot somewhere on the melon where it sat on the ground) and look for it to be slightly yellow--not white. If it's white, it's immature and will be bitter. If it's a dark yellow/green then it's overripe and will most likely be hollow inside. Also, if you LIGHTLY thump the side of the melon, it should make a solid sound--not hollow. It should also weigh fairly heavy--water is 8lbs per gallon--but it should not slosh. Ever.
You're all right, but at the end of the day a parent needs to be able to make informed decisions to raise *their* child the way *they* want to and not leave the Internet to do it for them.
I would agree with you, except for the little nagging fact that your trusting a body of people to do the 'judging' for you. Meaning, the rating on the outside of the box. Your trusting some other people to decide what your child is ready to see or not.
So basically your saying, "Ok. The ESRB says that this game is Mature. Therefore I'm going to let my children play this game, knowing full well that the raiting is for 'Mature' individuals." ('Mature' means above 18 in most parts of the USA. If they were this age, they could buy it for themselves at the store.)
Sometime later...
"WHAT'S THIS?!? SEX IN A MATURE VIDEOGAME?!? Why, I would have raited this game ADULTS ONLY! Not Mature!"
So there's your answer: You are trusting someone else to rate the games, and then you complain about how they rate them versus yourself. It's your own fault. You should be watching your kids play the games, or trust the raiting system. You can't have it both ways.
This is of course, glossing over the fact that this 'content' was not aviable in the game through any accessable means. You had to download a patch, apply it, reburn the game, and put it into your PS2. The computer version was only slightly less complicated, but its almost the same.
So your unhappy that a previously inaccessable area of the game--that the devolopers left in by simply forgetting that it existed in the first place--was a bit where some pixelated bump'n and grind'n was going on? I'm sorry--you gave up your right to complain about this the minute you let your CHILD play a MATURE game. You either explicitly trust someone else to judge if content is acceptable for your kid, or you don't. You can't say your okay with it one minute, and then get mad when lateron when you wern't paying attention it is not what you would have judged it.
Just like with TV. If you see a boobie on the TV, you just calmly explain that wasen't supposed to happen unless she was breastfeeding her child.
Done. No muss, no fuss. You take away the "No, this is bad--never do this ever." and the child loses all interest in doing/seeing said activity/picture/whatever.
Or how about not using some very suspiciously weird looking website that requires you to install a plugin, and use autopatcher which you can take from computer to computer and update them as you go along?
This is what Peerflix is used for. You can take those movies that you don't watch, and send them to other people for them to watch. Which in turn allows you to get other movies on your list. Rare, obscure movies that you'd never think to even look for are on here.
You keep them forever. There is no cost to join. You can have as many DVD's as you like, for as long as you would like.
I must concur with the shenanigans calling about the quality on Linksys stuff. I've been running this router (and other Linksys gear) since it was first available, back when there was no open-source firmware update. The router, at the time, was the best on the market--hands down. It was cheaper, faster, and a lot easier on the eyes than some of the competitors (Microshaft and Netgunk) in a corporate environment.
When the first Sveasoft firmware update was released, I installed it the very same day. Bricked my router, and boy was it my fault. Never ever use cheap network cable. Buy premium cable, and buy a tester as well. Took it to a friend of mine who works on arcade repair who removed the flash and programmed it with his, strangely enough, chip programmer. I still have that router in use, and it gives me less trouble than any of the others--including the other WRT54G's. I did install a small fan into the top of it, but otherwise the hardware (except for the chip which had to be resoldered) is stock.
I did have a bad 4/5-port switch but that was the power adapter that fried it. A quick RMA and the next day I had a new switch in my hands and out in the field.
So while you may have had a few 'bad eggs' which ruined your experience, there are thousands of people out there that are willing to take a lowly $69.99 unit that is great at what it does, and put a new firmware in it and make it absolutely FANTASTIC at what it now does.
1. I do not think that word means what you think it means... Concurrently means that you are running both at once, where as you are referring to being able to switch between both of them at boot time through a boot manager. This article says you can run them concurrently, which is clearly possible with an EFI boot partition. Formatting isn't even in the equation, as you have a disk image residing on the HD with whatever filesystem/boot whatever.
2. This is a BETA and most if not all the retail checking mechanisms are not in place, due to the fact that in a year--let alone whenever it gets released--the methods of detection will most likely change significantly.
3. It is a virtual system, therefore it can trick the OS into thinking whatever specs are needed for the OS to run. See the last question about changing specs, and timeframes. by the time it is released, the specs may change significantly.
4. Err... No. Not on a virtual system, that's running on top of another system. The virtual system (unless part of Xen, and even still) will most likely fail all tests. Not to mention it's an apples to oranges-who-are-growing-on-fake-trees-with-artific ial-nutrients-being-fed-to-them comparison in the first place.
It won't happen. Nintendo is a very proud Japanese company, with a history that blows all these new consoles out of the water. They will never, ever be bought by a company--let alone one in the US.
Apple is a teenager when compared with Nintendo: They are trendy, they cost an inordinate amount of money, and they get angry if they aren't setting the curve.
Nintendo on the other hand is like a seasoned veteran: They know what works, they have their good friends who will never let them down, and they stick with what they know.
Nintendo might be #3 here, but it's still #1 in Japan--and that's where it matters to Nintendo.
Nintendo will be around for another 100 years. You'll see.
Okay... Your a troll, but I'll bite. Here's your synopsis of a synopsis for ya:
Its HL2.1. If you liked the first one, you'll like this one. And for half the cost (ha-ha. half-life at half-cost.) of the original game, its hard to pass up. No waiting in stores, just click the button and in about 15mn your ready to go.
Also, there is a new update in Cedega that allows the game (and all Steam games) to work better in it. So, not only is it cheap but it's also 'cross platform' to boot. Use the cash you saved on buying Windows and play the game. Cedega is worth the 15 bucks, I feel.
P.s. I beat HL2 in just under 6 hours and I'm a die-hard gamer. I beat the HL1 with every weapon*, then just the crowbar*. Then with individual weapons*.
* Where applicable. Some things required a grenade, etc. to pass. The hardest one was the grenades, with the rocket launcher following, surprisingly. The crowbar was almost the easiest, because you could just bump into the enemy and wack 'em a few times... But I digress...

But the surface area of the rectum is much greater than that of the stomach, which allows the absorption of said chemicals/liquids to be absorbed MUCH quicker. But the idea of rectal feeding has been pretty much removed with the advent of modern intravenous methods. I've heard that unless your going to be doing some physical work, you can actually get all your required nutrients through an IV. I'm thinking 'heads in jars' are in store for some of us.

You can set it to use a fixed amount of kilobytes per second (Kbs) for the upload and the download. Keeping your bandwidth usage to a minimum while your using it. The bandwidth is not maxed out all the time--although, as you get more and more integrated into the network it may max out for progressively longer periods of time.
You can still turn it off when your done with it. The only problem is that when people do that the network suffers. If too many people do that, then there is no network. That is why permanent nodes are good for the network.
Think of it like BT but with HTML files--only everything is encrypted, and there are no 'trackers' to tell where the data is located. Just nodes sharing data with other peers, and telling other peers where the data they do not have is located. When nodes (which are both peers and trackers using the BT analogy) are taken down frequently, you get a situation where one peer says you have the data and another says you are not responding to pings. That slows down the network, because each peer has to check to see if your back online. nothing is a direct connection, everything is bounced back and forth between nodes.
As for a set number? Alas, I cannot give you one. My upload max is 60Kbs. Sometimes it stays under a 1GB (~11Kbs over 24 hours) and it's only peaked over 5GB once (~60Kbs) and monthly is never more than 150GB a month--due to my 60Kbs upload.
Download? Well, that's another matter entirely. Since you are sharing, you have to get the data to share--even if your not requesting the page. My line max is 400Kbs download, and i do other stuff with it from time to time (QOS makes sure that my bandwidth is never compromised because of Freenet) as i assume you will be too. At max, that's just shy of 1TB of data back and forth (~955GB) which has never happened before, just to let you know.
You can download Java for free at Java.com for every platform
As for 'free and open source' no. But why would you want to, when there is a perfectly good one that they are giving away? Your downloading it for your own personal use, and your using it on a separately licensed computer. It's not like your main computer that you want to keep with only free and OSS stuff has to run this non-OSS.
You download Linux for free, install it, and then download and install Java for free, and then run the Freenet Proxy on it. Nothing else in your network has to use Java--not even the computers that are using the proxy to connect to the Freenet.
So I'm at a loss as to what your referring to as 'non-free software'. Please explain.
Seriously, what platform are you using that doesn't have a Java implementation on it?
And, even more to the point... Just have a Freenet server running in the basement someplace and use it as a proxy out to the Freenet. Buy/find/build a computer (don't spend more than one Benjamin on it) and put Any flavor of Linux on it, then load the Freenet proxy. Don't forget to load up the RAM, as Freenet eats RAM like the passengers of a Las Vegas tour bus eat at Circus Circus.
Not only is this good for the network (permanent nodes == good nodes) but the upshot is that you don't have to locate the server anywhere near your main computer. So you can get a low-speed computer, slap a giant copper HSF on it, and remove the fans. Less fans == less points of H/W failure down the road. Since it's Linux, it never needs to reboot. Since it's only doing Freenet (and only has that port open to the world) then you don't need to update the kernel.
And yes, I know what I'm talking about. I've got a E-PC in my basement that's been running along happily for over 3 years now, and the only thing that I've ever changed on it was the Freenet install. Unload, upgrade, and restart the Freenet proxy. Done in 5min. Whenever i want to use the Freenet i just change my proxy in my browser to my Freenet server in the basement. Takes me 20 seconds.
So I want all these excuses of NOT running Freenet to stop. Anybody can find a 'junk' computer and put Freenet on it, no excuses! Get those nodes up and running--the more nodes that stay online 24/7 the better. And trust me... Once you see the amount of creativity that true total anonymity brings, you'll be glad you at least saw it. You might not like it but at least you know it's there and what it's about. And like GI Joe said--Knowing is half the battle.
And if your really worried about your electric bill--don't. Your bill will jump up at most.50 a month from your Freenet server. You don't need a monitor (that draws the most watts) for this setup, And if your really worried about it you need to wonder why your reading/. in the first place...

Yes. This is exactly what the keyboard will be used for. You can use whatever key you want to have the Mini-Three (I'm going to call it the M3) display. The displays can also be used to show (5FPS) animated images, supposedly.
The only problem I have with the library is that the DVD's are usually scratched... which means that I have to watch them on my computer. Which is not my 52" TV with surround sound. So I usually end up copying the movie, burning it to a DVD, and watching it on my TV... Which unfortunately breaks so many laws, it's a shame.
Well... There is geexbox... but I really want my remote control...
Next up: The George Forman Lean Mean, super-processing, grilling machine!
It knocks out the fat, and your breaker switches!
"With my new machine, you can cook your food in half the time--and compile your kernel in no-time flat! My new Lean Mean, Super-Processing, Grilling Machine knocks out the fat, and the compile time!"
But seriously... What the hell is wrong with Intel? They have a perfectly good model (AMD) to base their business model off of... What do they do? They take one good part, implement it half-assed, and then forget all the rest of the improvements.
call this flamebait, but Intel doesn't seem to be making a lot of good judgment calls here lately. Basically, I see the same-old Intel, back when AMD and Cyrix chips were out on the market.
"Our chips are the fastest! See? Ours have 200 Mega-hertz! And MMX! Games have sound now, so were going to put some sound-bits on the chip! See? SEE?!?"
Sorry Intel. The cat is out of the bag: MHz don't mean much. Our computers are so overpowered now, why do we need more speed? Games? ok, I'll bite: Isn't most of the processing is done by the videocard these days... So what's your excuse now? Windows Vista? Again, that's going to use your videocard more than anything.
Intel, your overpriced and inefficient. It's time for a paradine shift. Innovate or get out.
Except that the Google Talk FAQ dosen't actually work...

While I don't aggree with posting to a personal site, this time it was actually sort of valid. I only wish I had mod points... Oh well. You gotta do what you gotta do.
No, that's not a typo. That's really the website. We have tons of stuff (50k square foot facility) that just goes to the scrap heap. Some things are sold pennies on the dollar, because there cheaper to ship then they are to scrap.
We have, at this point in time, about 5 projectors in stock. And I bet even one of them works.

Oh, engrish is so funny, when it's a in-game photo now isin't it?

Lets hope that Valve test to play-test before it goes on sale, eh?
I'll go get the tea.
Except that the Google Talk FAQ dosen't actually work...
You must drop the @gmail.com part from your username. Otherwise, it won't work.
While I don't aggree with posting to a personal site, this time it was actually sort of valid. I only wish I had mod points... Oh well. You gotta do what you gotta do.
'cause there is no posts. That, or /. has gone FUBAR again,.
www.itscrap.com
No, that's not a typo. That's really the website. We have tons of stuff (50k square foot facility) that just goes to the scrap heap. Some things are sold pennies on the dollar, because there cheaper to ship then they are to scrap.
We have, at this point in time, about 5 projectors in stock. And I bet even one of them works.
