    Unfortunately that sums up a lot of new "coders" from sausage machine colleges/universities where the only think they learnt was java and basic OO. They know little to nothing about older technologies and languages and how they work or what their advantages might be. I'm not blaming them (well ok , a bit , you'd think they'd be curious about what went before in their chosen profession) , its generally the fault of the courses they've been on.

    XComposite is essentially an uprated version of the double buffer extension and plenty of apps used that so there's no reason new apps wouldn't be written to use XComposite.

    Complete crap.

    Compositing is an X server extension , its not up for debate. A window manager is not required to support it for an app to be able to use it.

    xdpyinfo | grep Composite

    Thats all well and good, but someone has to take the time to find a host for the VM , set it up including updates, logins and all the various mappings and then maintain it. And thats before you get into performance considerations.

    VMs arn't a magic bullet, in fact for a lot of things they're barely a bullet at all.

    Lets face it , a large number of british workers are just bloody lazy and do a poor job. Sure, some employers sacked brits to employ foreigners on lower wages but thats the exception rather than the rule. Generally eastern europeans that come over here have a better work ethic than native brits. The lazy polish stay in poland.

    Also lets not forget that a lot of these immigrants do jobs the british simply won't do such as working on farms.
