    People like you have been excusing this behaviour for years blaming it on social ills and lack of this that or the other. Bollocks! Most if not all of the rioters have far more material wealth than a number of east european states yet you don't find mass rioting there. The problem is lazy feckless children brought up by lazy feckless parents with a liberal education system that doesnt' teach them any discipline or respect. And no , teachers shouldn't have the "earn" respect from a teenager, they should be given it automatically.

    I wouldn't give you jack for them. Can I pay my utility bills with them? No. Can I may my mortgage with them? No. Can I go into most shops or online stores and buy stuff with them? No.

    They're nothing more than a financial toy for people to play around with and waste energy on GPU calculations which they justify by reeling off a list of websites no one has heard of where you can buy useless crap with them.

I'm not sure where this attitude is coming from , perhaps the law profession is attracting the wrong type of person or the wrong sort is being promoted to the judiciary by like minded misfits of a similar persuation already entrenched there, but its a worrying precedant either way.

    Thats what I always do - perhaps I'm paranoid but it only takes a few seconds and it resolves all of these sorts of issues along with malware checking you out. But then I don't use skype or do webchats , perhaps for someone who did it would be a nuisance but if not I recommend everyone to do it.

    ..but not necessarily better at picking up new skills or techniques (I speak as someone in his 40s). So its a trade off. Yes , if you want a C++/Java/Cobol expert who knows the language inside out to work on a huge system for years then someone older is probably better , but if you're a start up who wants someone who'll quickly pick up new stuff and can shift gears in no time as your company grows and morphs then you really want someone in their 20s.

    32 to 64 bit makes virtually zero performance difference to 99.9999% of applications. People forget that CPUs have 2 main buses - the address bus and data bus. The data bus has essentially been 64 bit for years on "32" bit intel cpus. Upping the address bus to 64 bit and increasing standard ALU integer registers to 64 bit (the floating point registers have also been 64 bit for years) will only benefit applications that require huge amounts of memory and/or ones that required large integers. Eg DMBS. For most desktop apps it'll frankly make fsck all difference.

    I'm sure plenty of us have gone out with someone who we initially thought was ok but not amazing but eventually got to really like them. And it certainly wasn't because their personality or looks had undergone some radical overhaul in that time.
