Huh? A C/C++ header file is a source file. It simply has a different file extension by convention indicating it contains common definitions. At least try and understand what you're talking about.
And if you didn't have header files how would you expect the compiler to know that variable "foo" used in module bar.cpp but defined in stuff.cpp is - for example - an int? C/C++ compilers compile ONE module at a time, not all of them in one go. They retain some state information for templates and thats complicated enough , but doing it for ALL variable definitions would be absurd given that header files are clear and simple and allow obvious compile time error checking.
"but as long as it needs header files, I don't put it into a modern language category."
Sorry , what? Where do you propose putting common definitions then shared by many modules? Or do you seriously think the moronic everything-in-a-class approach of java is a sensible way to do things?
Because blackberry was - and still does - do a better job for mobile business use. There was no market for easy to use smartphones for sheeple until mass market GPRS/EDGE arrived allowing reasonable download speeds, which not coincidentaly was shortly before the iPhone appeared. Funny huh?
A small computer with some radio hardware is all they are. Pretending otherwise just makes you seem deluded. And they weren't an innovation, they were simply a progression of what had come before. There was no quantum leap despite what apple fanbois might have us believe since touchscreens have been around for decades and apple even used them on the dog that bombed called the Newton.
Does it matter if its oxide flaking off or simply losing magnetism? Floppy disks were unreliable. Ok , data was lost due to flaking on tapes , but you could still read the rest of the tape. Good luck reading much of anything off a floppy disk if you lost any directory metadata.
Nothing. He asked me to sort it out because next time he saw my car without one there'd be trouble etc etc. Given this was 300 miles from where I live and was on my way home anyway I wasn't too concerned.
Hopefully with these arrests and others a few months back, the keyboard warriors out there will start to realise that they're not untraceable and can't just do as they damn well please on the internet.
I'm no fan of Sony but I hope this guy is banged up for a long time for stealing all that private data. And before any wannabe heros mod me down you might want to consider that YOUR data could be part of it.
Data density was much higher on a floppy disk than tapes of the day (if you think about it , and entire floppy disks surface area is probably only equivalent to a few inches of tape) so consequently minor faults that would do nothing to data on a tape could cause complete data loss on a floppy disk.
Sure they notice , but they don't care. I have police patrolling my street occassionally with my car parked in the road. Not once have I got a note through the door from them telling me to come and explain where my front plate has gone down the nearest station. Similarly on the road I pass many police cars going the other way and as I said in the original post, only once in 5 years have I been stopped. Given thats saved me from 5 years worth of being tracked and avoiding average speed cams I'd say its been worth it.
"Not everyone is a paranoid bigoted bastard like you"
Did I hit a nerve? Been stung have we? Boo hoo.
"So, not being knowledgeable in how to steal other people's money, doesn't not make one an idiot."
Anyone with common sense can spot a ponzi scheme a mile off. Anyone who doesn't is an idiot and/or so greedy they put any sense they have aside. And then they get burnt. Tough sh1t. Some people have to learn lessons the hard way.
Which made them frankly fairly useless for data storage and backup. Any company IT dept worth its salt used tapes and your average user just had to make sure he backed the same thing up on enough floppies that after N months/years at least one would hopefully still work. And as time went by and manufacturers cut costs to make up for falling sales reliability got so bad that in boxes of some of the last floppies to be produced at least 1 or 2 disks wouldn't even work to start with if my experience was anything to go by!
I miss some things about computers of the past but floppy disks are not one of them. Thank god for USB sticks and SD cards.
I only took the front plate off - the rear one is still there so any plod car behind me suspects nothing. The front plate is the one the ANPR cameras take a picture of, not the rear. Which I never understood because motorbikes don't have a front plate. But I'm not complaining!
"but where I live tobacco taxes largly cover the medical costs of smoking"
We're not talking about smoking tobacco , we're talking about cannabis and generally speaking cannabis dealers don't contribute towards the medical costs of their clients by way of paying tax.
"Do you think you should be free people, even free to kill your IQ or do you think you should be controlled by the state, told what to do, what not to do, thrown in jail if you refuse to comply?"
A free society doesn't mean you have freedom to do as you damn well please no matter what and screw everyone else. If you hadn't smoked so many joints you might understand this basic fact of human civilisation which has been true since probably before we came down out of the trees since even animals don't tolerate anarchy in their packs or herds.
Which is what I've done. Only been stopped once in 5 yearsby some bored country plod , gave some BS excuse and he let me off. Or you could ride a motorbike - they don't have front plates anyway. Presumably the police arn't interested in catching people on bikes. Perhaps crims don't use them? Oh , wait.... this isn't about catching criminals. Silly me.
"So nobody's invented a ballast tank that works by creating a vacuum yet?"
The difference in lift between between a tank filled with hydrogen and one with a vacuum will be negligable because H2 is such a light gas already so its not worth the bother.
"No lightweight material that can maintain shape at 14 psi?"
Obviously hasn't made you very clued up about human psychology.
"f I ever threaten anyone with an axe, it's a metaphor or something"
Oh right. So we should just accept that should we? I mean no former soldier PTSS with has EVER killed anyone with anything other than a gun in recent times have they. Oh , wait...

The human brain makes any of our technology look like amateur rubbish so do you spend your day looking in the mirror thinking how amazing you are? Unless you're a complete narcissist I suspect not but compared to it your smartphone and an aircraft are like childs lego bricks. So no , adults shouldn't take stock and go wow all the time - you deal with the world the way it is.

Otherwise we'd all still be staring at a wheel or a flint axe and going "Woooow!" So its rather unfair to blame people for complaining about flying conditions when its a normal part of life no matter how amazing flying is technically.

You want to try repeating that in intelligable english?

Not light enough to use in an airship.
No. Whats your point? Its ok to kill someone if they've been unfaithful? Are you a psychopath or something?

As long as you don't need to know what speed you're going or how much charge you've got left in the battery then sure.
