Thankfully, my signature has said that you can sell "almost" anything on eBay. The people trying to sell shuttle parts though, are going to get nasty surprises.
I love the idea. I don't see it happening though, because the nay sayers will say, "Oh yeah! Well what if we happen to redirect the asteroid INTO the Earth?" Imagine humanity causing the very extinction event we all seem to fear the most. How poetic.
What about the Moon? I doubt Nasa can say with any certainty now that we can honestly send people to a far away planet, when we still have major issues with landing on our very own.
If we try for the Moon again, which we haven't done in OVER 30 years, and we succeed, then I think we could set our sites on manned Mars shots.
He did a fine job too. Strongest wine I've ever tasted.
The parish kids even went out picking buckets of dandelion heads once, so he could make wine from them too.
$10 per spam, and legal fees covered, still wouldn't be worth my time. It might for someone who gets about 20 spam from just ONE spammer, but finding out if it came from ONE person would be a big 'ol pain.
Or, he could lobby Saddam to give him some. Instead of producing nerve gas, they can make peroxide! You do realize I'm kidding right? Right moderators? Have mercy...
Do you have any idea how bad this is? You probably do, but either choose to ignore it because it doesn't affect you personally, or you think this will actually not hurt people and businesses.
Until someone sells a device that easily converts a person's floppy collection to equivalent file systems on new media, this is just a thorn in the side of many users. Think of all the games that will need to be cracked to install from the new media, rather than just inserting floppy disk 2!
I'm teasing just a little bit, but you do realize this is not good. It is like Sony deciding to not make any more stereos with audio cassette decks in them. This is not like removing support for the "8-track" of the computing world.
If it weren't for the Columbia disaster, we'd still be hearing about how "Slammer destroyed the Internet". This was a benign attack, compared to what a truly sick person would have done. Look for another attack, but don't look for anything to be done to stop it.
One of my friends showed me the site months ago. I'm not a regular visitor, but I get a chuckle from the site when he sends me a link now and then. He said it's been having connectivity problems lately, and this/.'ing isn't going to help...
I think the Sircam virus backed up a Juan "Somekid's" report card to my email. Too bad for him, I deleted his report card along with the virus that sent it to me. Encrypted, this might not have been such a bad thing, except as it was, I had a confidential document pertaining to a kid in a state 2000km away, and no easy way for the teacher to know that I had a "backup".
Maybe implemented as effectively as Sircam was, with strong encryption, on non-confidential documents, and with an easy way to find the backups this *might* be a good idea. As it is now, I don't think so.
As has been mentioned already, [no this is not redundant, because I am writing this myself] the potential for data being stolen is too great an issue to overlook. This is not a viable option because the potential for theft is too great, and no ammount of encryption will make a difference. Encryption will always be broken.
It is no strange occurance for eBay to remove feedback. One party having invalid contact info is just one of the reasons. Others include feedback that contain swear words, real names, website ads, and underage bidders.
The person who sued eBay is an idiot, because eBay removes feedback if a court orders that feedback made by an individual is libel. Don't sue eBay, sue the person.
Yeah, I don't see any 20cm whales, but they might fit in the 200cm version they said was coming, assuming the width increases with the girth, and the length increases with the horsepower.
Lemme guess, when you retire [soon], you'll be one of the people sitting on your ass doing nothing. No volunteering, no gardening, no politics; just sitting in front of AOL and the cable TV?
I may be idealistic, and coupled with "enthusiasm" [not arrogance as you suggest], I will find a nice job, thank you very much.
You make a very good point. I almost feel sorry for the people who I will be replacing in a few years, when they take a permanent vacation from contributing to society.
Hey, for once, I wasn't stretching the truth...
This could explain my friend's sub par play recently. Thanks /.! Another gaming mystery solved. My friend will be so happy.
Switching to Quake III.
:-(
Just when me and my friends were putting the finishing touches of our college residence Unrealy Tourny level
Patch it! Patch it quick, I have to snipe! A day without "M-mmmonster KILL" ringing in my ears, is a day not worth waking up for.

"Apollo/Soyuz-style capsules seems safer and cheaper. "
Do those capsule's have to land in water, or can they land and be picked up anywhere for the astronauts to survive?

The NIPC is too busy restructuring to do anything!
VMyths rantings often discuss this fellow.

Oh no! How are we going to easily identify the scum of the Internet without @aol.com on the email address!

If I comment further on that, I may go to jail.
So you'll just have to wonder.
I never said he didn't, I said what he should have done in any case in order to have a legal leg to stand on.

Speaking of code, how is it that I saw a +6 next to your post above when looking at your profile?
"... allow the captain to control the ship from anywhere on the ship."
Great, just what the crew wanted: Their captain giving orders while he's in the head.
