I have a Canon Powershot S30, 3MP camera, and use it at 2MP most often. It also takes short movie clips which is a nice feature I think. It is in the $500US range as of 4 months ago. I hear lots of people on the web say they are happy with the G2 from Canon. The only downsides to mine, is the custom li ion battery, and the zoom button is a little sticky at times.
I get about 110 photos and videos from one battery life, and they are rechargable of course. You need a second battery with you basically, so factor that into the purchase price. Extra CF card(s) are a must too, and may cost you another $100 to have enough space for a weekend of pictures without downloading.
In the discussion about the Canon, a number of people like me realized the sheer memory capacity even one picture will take, especially if it is not compressed. I find my 3MP pictures to take a hideous amount of room on my Flash card, and eventually my CDs. And forget emailing these suckers to people using nearly full email boxes. You have to convert them to a fraction of their original size even to get the jpgs to under 500Kb.
It only makes sense for professionals to have digital cameras that take 4MP or better. If you buy one of these puppies in the next 2 years, either you have too much money, or it is your passion/livelyhood taking photos.
I think this would be one of the best investments a person could make. Too bad it will be all of rich people, which will skew the results of any statistics that could pop out of the research. All super rich people must have a gene or two that supplies an aggressive desire for money, and stupid gold digging mates.
I wouldn't email him back, but if you do, please tell him the car has been sold. You might want to report him to the FBI so they can see if there is a pattern of this happening. I suspect attempted identity theft.
Where my family lives they have no cell reception. There is an old microwave tower with no dish anymore, and the local telephone company doesn't want to install cell service on the existing tower. I want to be buffeted by EM when I go home, damit. EM isn't just for city folks nowadays.
Thanks, I've used earplugs with limited success. It kind of seems backwards to go to a place for musical enjoyment, and have to plug my ears so I can enjoy it.
Live concerts would be cool if I didn't receive hearing damage after 2 minutes. I can't say for sure if Bon Jovi is considerate of their listener's ears, but some how I doubt it.
I saw a/. sig the other day that said a person who gets spam must feel something like a Fat balding woman who needs bigger breasts and a longer penis to screw Britney.
I surf eBay, mail, and University sites all at the same time, while editing pictures, listen to MP3s of mine, and crunch SETI@home. Then I shut some down to watch MPGs of TV, and type essays. Burn CDs, and IM friends with a web cam. A full computer experience, with all the toys, at a fraction of the price for a P4 2.2GHz.
Hey, that is a really cool idea, I wonder if it can really work. It is a new idea to me, so if anyone knows if this is a joke, or a possibility, please let us know?
Then we need someone to develop some open source code that creates a dead end mail server on whoever installs the program. They should be able to set how much spam their server eats in a night, rated to bandwidth usage. I'd run it as a screensaver.
I have some tricks for Hotmail users who cannot benefit from the technique above:
Filter any message without the @ in the address.
Filter Britney, Boobs, Penis, Inches, WIN, ___..... and your own email address userid. Now you only have about 40 spams a day to deal with instead of 100. Uncheck your information from being in the MSN directory too.
In fact I own many 8088s and other oldies but goodies, when I want to play old games. My 433 doesn't lag because of the processor, it lags because Windows programs the popup menus to be delayed, and animated. The internet connection is my limiting factor, not CPU.
Well, since you like the parrot act to troll, I will stop feeding you after this. Just letting you know that I think you are entitled to your opinion, as narrow minded as it may be. I just don't care too much for it. Maybe I'll send you an IM when I get that job you speak of;-P
I run a 433 Celeron, that I upgraded from a 333 Celeron just last year. It has only 128megs RAM, and a CDburner, and new 32meg GeForce200MX and keeps me happy.
If it plays my music, TV, and prints my reports for school, it does its job. I might upgrade it to a 750MHz this Fall, just so I can win easier in Unreal T.
Governments throw capable systems to the schools, whether the machine is usable in the department or not. 3 year life cycle BABY! Intel wishes it were a 1 year cycle.
Don't feel bad about being OT. It made me laugh. In fact I'll follow in your fine tradition of making people laugh, and not mention how this fits in to the topic either.
I do not see how one is an idiot for maintaining operability with old technology. The wheel works fine for me, do you think the new Octagon wheel will be an improvement?
Other people emailed me for the report. Why are you so concerned about asking for it nicely?
What you assume, incorrectly, is that people would place a phone call or drop by in place of an IM. IM is a temptation for some to just wander away into a chatting world, when they would normally just continue working.

...But imagine how many CDs you'll fill up just trying to film all of Anna Nicole's boobs?

Oddly enough, I learned a lot about WWI history by playing Red Baron. It was a really cool game, and threw in some real history to boot.
I wonder what percentage of those geeks were looking for the Enterprise season opener?
Obviously the only posibilities are spam ending [passing through] or begining in California, and the chrages are only valid in the state of CA.

That is interesting. I didn't know anyone else used WebCT, but my backward University. It makes me sad to know that others are subjected to it too.
;-)
ps. I did not read the article either

I don't understand the filtering software that I can download to implement this system. Anyone have a link?
I know, what would we do without our free porn, and porn passwords?
