Actually, this page shows the key plugging into a cable outside the box. The encryption device itself is a card that connects between the hdd and motherboard.
Most places in the U.S., you're perfectly fine drinking water from the tap. I heard ("conventional wisdom") that spring water loses any befirts after having been out of the ground for 2 hours. I haven't researched this, but it doesn't taste any different than good tap water to me.
Obviously you and I don't live in the same city. The tap water here, depending on the day, tastes somewhere between rust, mold, swimming pool water, raw sewage, or a combination of the above. The (supposedly clean, filtered) water in the drinking fountains here at work is a lovely shade of white (even after the company has fixed the plumbing several times). I'll gladly pay a little extra for water that is clear and tastes like water!
Or, say I go to a legitimate free music site (MP3.com for example) and download a bunch of songs, then go on kazaa and make these LEGALLY DOWNLOADED songs available for others to download...
How will the RIAA differentiate between these songs (which have been LEGALLY DOWNLOADED and are already available to everybody) and the same song that I ripped from a CD and made available for others to download??
In this case, I haven't done anything wrong (I'm simply hosting data which is already publicly available), but the RIAA could (and probably would) interpret it as infringement.
If this thing really uses a touchscreen, the stylus must only be about an inch long!! People have enough trouble with losing their Palm styluses - I hope this thing comes with about 50,000,000 spares...
I hope they don't expect people to use Graffiti on this thing...
Do they really think anybody's going to pay ~$300 for one of these?? Fossil tried selling a PocketPC watch (didn't really run PocketPC, but could transfer contacts & appointments to a PPC) -- these are now selling for $39.00 (link). BTW, the PocketPC watch wasn't a touchscreen - it used a joystick/buttons.
Y'know, it wouldn't be very nice if, say, somebody posted a link to this scumbag's website...

the ability to take a "scan" of what's in front of the monitor every X minutes is something I can see being used and abused by the "w3 0wnz j00" philosophy that a lot of businesses have with respect to their employees
I doubt it... a picture of an employee sitting in front of their PC won't tell them anything (how will they know if employee is doing "real work", or looking at pr0n?)
Keystroke loggers & firewalls are better for watching what employees are really doing, and these have been around for years...
Will this disable the CPU if it is overclocked by even a few MHz, or does it have to be a huge increase? I've been looking for a new motherboard, and I've read reviews of several boards that overclock the CPU slightly right out of the box (as an easy way to boost the board's performance above the competition).
That shouldn't be a problem - since it's basically a transformer, you can generate any voltage by varying the turns ratio (to generate higher/lower voltages, just vary the number of windings in the device's coil).
I guess this means the military won't be using 802.11 anytime soon... It would be a little tough for them to use it if their own radars keep turning it off!
The last Panasonic I had lasted all of six months - started making horrible buzzing sounds and static. Was still under warranty, so I sent it back. Guess what...the replacement (refurbished) that they sent had the exact same problem!!!
To me, it sounds like they aren't embedding a signal into the picture -- they are probably changing the refresh rate of the projected image so that it doesn't agree with a normal camcorder's scan rate -- ever seen video clips on TV where they are interviewing somebody in front of a CRT, and the image on the CRT has those annoying black bands scrolling up/down? I suspect this works the same way...
The problem with the escrow services is that they're just too damn expensive -- I sold a PDA for about $75, and the buyer wanted to use escrow -- the escrow fee (through Tradeenable) was going to be around $25!
I did some informal testing at work with a Bluetooth-enabled iPAQ and a Bluetooth printer adapter -- I was able to communicate with the printer from a lot farther than 10m (probably about 100 feet) with the iPAQ set to minimum power. Plus there were 3 or 4 walls between me and the printer.
(Thankfully the RF testing guys down the hall haven't yelled at us yet!)
When I saw that picture, I couldn't stop thinking about how much he looks like this guy...

RIAA is issuing subpoenas to neighbors and friends of people who know or once knew anybody who shares files of any kind...Story at 11.

I already have a tube full of tritium in my pocket, nobody's gotten pissed yet...

Maybe they just need to try overclocking their servers??
I guess the drool and rapid arm movements would be a dead giveaway too!

It's pretty simple, really. It's called a hammer.

Why don't you just wait a week and submit it anyway? It'll end up on the front page!
