Switching from 32-bit to 64-bit just for the fun of it will just cripple what you can currently do on the Windows platform right now. In Linux land, it all "just works" (with very few exceptions).
Agreed. While I havn't tried this version, the beta of XP64 was terrible. It didnt feel like windows XP and the driver support was just bad: not everybody is using some generic ATI/NVidia card and the latest and greatest creative crap. I hope they have at least fixed SATA support. Not being built into windows AND having to track down 64bit drivers for SATA is not good for the user.
actually...I use my athlong-64 system as my windows system. Sure linux can take advantage of it, but linux cant take advantage of the powerhungry windows apps (like games and photoshop CS) that I use the power of the athlon64 for.
I run linux on my thinkpad (crossover for Photoshop 7 and Dreamweaver MX...I wish it supported new versions of both) as well as on a dual PII used for audio output in theatrical applications.
I agree, people need to suck it up and do what they have to. They dont have to buy a fancy new HDTV, only a little box that can convert the over the air signals into something that can be shown on their tv. It wont be HDTV but it probobly will be better.
If they can't afford $20 to buy the converter, maybe they shouldnt be watching so much TV in the first place.
It's possible that he asked these questions elsewhere (with a small group of professionals etc.) and got an answer. The only problem is that none of them knew where to get a system quite like what they want even though the technology is there.
The Jackson case is high profile enough for some clueless 19 year old girl who was seriously thinking of having sex with some guy (losing virginity?) that she met in an aol chatroom who probobly started with A/S/L. She sees a case and gives it a shot--if she sues aol, she can probobly AT LEAST get back her lawyers fees unless the judge throws it out (but why would she think that).
I'd be pissed if my parents watched me on the computer (especially when I look at porn...man that would suck) and read my conversations and the like.
There comes a time when parents SHOULDNT be constantly watching and that girl was the right age. Either she knew exactly what she was doing (maybe she wanted it or maybe she was just playing...they never actually did it) or she needed to learn a few things about life before leaving the house.
Their service WAS superoir. They had monitors that surely kicked out plenty of people and in the case in question, the guy was caught before anything happened.
As far as I can tell, thats more than you would get anywhere else.
there are communitys on stupid journal sites like greatestjournal (and I would assume LJ as well) that are devoted to posting pictures like that and then having the other people rate them.
$5 says half of them are started by some guy who posts a few pictures and then lets it run.
agreed, its more like your handwriting. You can format it anyway you like, a formal letter, an imformal paragraph, a bulleted list, but it still looks like your handwriting.
Sure you can try to make it look different but you will not be nearly as efficient when you are trying to replicate other handwriting.
The games are like the drm'd content and they choose to make them only work on that player (whether they just dont want to port or they have an exclusive deal). This is a pretty much accepted business practice.
Now, all of the consoles do have some content they can share (think of this like the mp3's). They can play DVD's and Music CD's which are both essentially open standards (anybody can make a dvd and CSS isnt so strong)
Does it hurt him that I get 10% of his bill rather than dreamhost?
They ARE a great company and they believe enough in their service that they are willing to pay refferals in exchange for getting the word out. If the customer signs up and likes it, it is a net gain for them over time.
the only thing I have touched it for (and a very light tap at that) is setting up azureus to download new episodes of the daily show every night because I dont have cable.
7 works fine (and fast) with crossover office but I wish CS or (the upcomming) CS2 would work.
An interesting note is that because I only own photoshop upgrade disks (my original disk is a 5.0 I believe), I had to use a pirate copy to get it to install on mandrake.
Adams also would have lugged a full mac G5 and generator with him on location because he would have refused to settle with the quality and power of a powerbook
Many yacht clubs these days are not the hangouts of the rich and famous.
They focus much more on competetive racing which for some boat desgins (j105 for instance) does require an owner with deep pockets (not to say the crew--and thus the majority of the sailors--have those same pockets) but others (smaller boats or crewwing) can be participated in with a fairly low investment.
Thats funny...because I run my KDE to look more like mac OS (though I keep windows style taskbar and quicklaunch ont he bottom) with menu, tray and clock on the top

Thus they turn to /.
although, if he is looking to use them as a RAMDisk, 266DDR is still going to outpreform a HDD.

and Mandriva doesnt?

but google seems to do a pretty good job indexing wikipedia :)

Great service too.

I want PC133 which is a little cheaper (~90 for 512) but I'll keep holding out if I cant find something better.
Teenagers can be members while racing their laser or optimist dingy that they pay for (and their membership fees) with a part time job.
why doesnt save for web work?

Well, I've still got a few months until I head off to college so maybe the prices will drop (or I will find another job).
Maybe you meant below 50?
