  1. Sandcrawler? on One Last Campout for Star Wars Fans · · Score: 1

I hate pointing this out, but....

That's actually based on Jabba's sail barge from Return of the Jedi. It looks like this

To be a sandcrawler, it would have to look a little something like this

No actually, I love pointing this out :)

Try looking for it under the name "Quest for Glory". They had to change the name due to legal issues related to the "Hero Quest" board game. The other good thing about Sarien, is that there's a lot of fan-made games that are compatible with the same interpreter. There's a bunch of them at The Ultimate AGI & SCI Website. FYI :)

I'm sure you're fishing, but what the hell. I live in Australia, and own PGR2. I bought it at a store, without doing any shady backroom deals, so I'm not sure where you get your info. Technically, we're supposed to have banned Manhunt, but you can still buy it, or could until about a month ago. It's true my country did ban the recent leisure suit larry (though from what I've seen in reviews, that may have been a good thing anyway), but when games such as Doom 3, Manhunt, etc do make it through, I don't see HL2 getting stopped.

As a person that used spend a fair bit of time on EQ a few years ago, I can identify with this. Toward the end, I headed toward the 'RP' servers, and tended to go 'adventuring' more often than heading into combat, often going into zones that I really had no business touching, esp. at a single-figure levels. It has its faults, but I recommend Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, esp. if you like to explore. The Game of the Year edition for either PC or XBOX isn't too expensive, and there's a wealth of community-created mods for the PC version. No idea how well it goes (if it does) under Linux/Mac/etc. It's hard to recreate that feeling of dread you first have in an MMORPG when you first die to a lowly rat, or when you run for your life from what looks like some terrible beast, hoping the local guards will save you in time. Very open-ended, (though at times, too much so), and you don't have to pay anything if you decide to fish it out again in the future.

According to the article, the participants had their rectal temperature taken every two minutes between 2300 and 0200. I'd suggest reevaluating the test subjects if they DIDN'T sleep well.

This happened a LONG time ago with one of the versions of Carmageddon that came out, so, instead of mowing down pedestrians, you were cleaning the zombie-infested streets. This would be the only time it happened, and the original in all its blood-splattered gore-y could still be purchased.

  12. Legality on Russian Agency Charges FBI Agent With Hacking · · Score: 2, Interesting

I'm not an expert on Internation law, but I can't understand how a federal judge can have the sort of authority to declare the action legal when it doesn't appear to be a federal matter. By the same token, a russian judge could just as easily say the two hackers were not breaking the law, though I can't see that holding any bearing on the actions of the US/FBI. If that pans out unfavourably for the russian pov, then it's likely that future 'conflicts of interest' like this will be more difficult.

  13. Re:Another redundant "unfair comparison" claim on Is Linux or Windows Easier To Install? · · Score: 1

A very honest, thought-out, and unbiased view. Windows covers enough for the computer illiterate to get them using their computer. I'm neither pro one OS or the other (I just want to be able to use my computer for a wide range of things, some I can do easier in Linux, others I can do easier in Windows.) With all the complaints most people have, you'd think Windows was too hard for them :p

  14. Re:Wrong Comparison on Is Linux or Windows Easier To Install? · · Score: 1

I think his point was it is 'rigged' because it isn't comparing the latest available release of both OS flavours. Why not compare Redhat 7.3's functionality against the old Windows 3.11? Not like we have to stick to the OS debate, either: Intel is far superior to anything Apple has to offer.. just look how my Pentium 4 compares against an Apple IIE.
