It has been my experience, that when asking anything of crowds, you find that there is rarely any wisdom and alot of following of the wrong people. Tis my humble opinion.

In this mans humble opinion, I think that this person was not specifying the beta o/s from MS, but a broader aspect of operating systems in general. I agree with him in that you have to use the right tool for the job. 64-bit windows not withstanding.

I agree... Then again, I've worked with some pretty commedic developers in my time. Right now I'm just working with two fellows who barely speak a word of english. I agree on the dilber theme though. However, I don't have the "strip a day calender" I do have the e-mail sent to me once a day though. :) I DO have the simpsons desk calender though. Does that count?

Having been through this. These pointers would have been VERY helpful. However, I was VERY lucky in having a friend in a guru... He was able to help me with all the problems I had, or point me in the direction of where I could find the answer. I did most of the research myself however, and only queried him if I REALLY got stuck... And he would actually make me think out the problem. Nothing like teaching a man to fish huh?

  8. Re:MS Office will be hit first on OSS Officially On Microsoft's Financial Radar Screen · · Score: 0

What about those of us who are equally into both linux AND M$? I have a server and work machine running linux and a gaming rig running Win2000... And you know what? I have not once had a problem with ANY of my machines. You know why? Caus' I know what I'm doing. Period. End. This isn't a linux/ms battle. This is an opening market in personal computing which was created by OSS. I don't know about you but I like to have choices. And I like to see those people who are normally under informed to have choices as well. It's what drives innovation my man. Linux needs microsoft and vise versa for both worlds to progress and co-exist. And I hate to brake it to you. But linux will NEVER totally beat out MS. Nor will MS every totally beat out linux. Once linux gets up there they will peacefully co-exist in the relms of Mac and MS... and in a perfect world there will be a 1/3 cut to each of them.

  10. Re:Speeding up? on Resume Tips For Jobs · · Score: 0

I believe they are talking about the actual numbers. Not the electoral college. If you looked at the amount of votes cast, Gore had a stagering amount more than bush. It's just that bush happened to win more states (or states with a greater amount of votes in the electoral college) There for Bush won based on that. So technically they BOTH won. Gore w/ the raw votes and Bush with the electoral college...

Well, one billion dollars, if you look really hard at it, isn't really that much. I mean, look at bill gates. all of 43Billion he's got? You'll still be small time in the grand scheme of the richest people in the world. But hell, when you keep yourself in the fat fiber pipes and the fastests game servers out there, what more do you need? Just invite a couple friends over and LAN for eternity! Damn everyone else!

Well, for someone who does ALOT of shoping on e-bay, I can honestly say that if you do your homework and use a little bit of that 6th sense (common) You can do JUST fine. Quite often when you see things on e-bay that are inflated WAY over the cost of new (which, by the way, there is alot of NEW equipment on e-bay, not just used) It is either the seller trying to inflate their own profits, OR you won't see any bids on it at all. Also, in my opinion on this whole e-bay dabocal is that no matter what the pattent holder sais or does, e-bay will still exist. He may become slightly richer, but that's about it. I say good for ebay for making this guys thing work. He obviously didn't. LOL
