    Whatever the technical definition of gigabyte should be or is, matters not to me or my post.

    What does matter to me- and the element I responded too, was that the original poster has COMPLETELY wrong a claim that "hard drive manufacturers call it like it should be at 1024 per K"

    anyone who works with Hard drives (the small 3.5" or 2.5" or smaller elements that require power and ribbon cables as opposed to
    'Cletus, you know the hard drive of a computah is what doesn't mean a monitor or keyboard" )

      KNOWS that hard drive manufacturers most certainly DO NOT use 1024 maths but 1000's...

    Sell 100 cables at 70$ each, make $6100
    sell 500-- do you see why they are 70$? some people WILL NOT WAIT for mailorder.

    have you EVERY purchased a hard drive? have you EVER seen the disclaimer on the side of the box?

    consider the obverse..

    they must pay prevailing wages? where prevailing wages are 44-102k they can pay 4k in costs and 44 in salary.. where the cost of living would require the position to be closer to the 102k scale...

    Also consider.. if the h1b visa holder loses his job, he/she goes home.. now.. imagine you are Gary Cole looking to fill some unpaid overtime on the weekend.. who is more likely to turn Lumbergh down? the native or the visa holder? think that can't make up 4k in productivity?

    I was thinking more along the lines of democratic areas get democrats & vice versa.. and some places do get libertarians at times.

    your client should have to bear the brunt of such a thing, if he needs to send it out in that manner.
    A lot of complaint re-spam is- the recipient (or his isp) bear the brunt of the costs.. this would fix that.

    Further. you could (as with mail backup) have a server which is a stand in (specified with an MX (or XM?)) which also supplies outgoing email.

    Yes- I quite think keeping outgoing email on the senders email server... until the recipient client asks for the email- makes a hell of a lot of sense..

    What physical copy of the software are you going to give them on a ms-minimum purchase Dell?

    if yer buying dell cheaply to install linux.. then the xp backup is a partition (the cd is $10 extra) so what are you going to give the purchaser as a physical copy?
