But even assuming the Democrats pull together and show brilliant leadership and vision (and I'm not holding my breath), it would take years to undo Bush's damage.

The USA just engaged in aggressive war against another nation and killed over half a million people. You can't "undo" the damage that was done.

I'll be satisfied when the USA has been forcibly disarmed and broken into its constituent states and not before.

Americans... they always want to point to their internal political changes after one of their little anti-social phases as though something was "fixed".

Oh, don't worry, Mr Hyde is gone, just nice Dr Jekyll here, you can't blame me for any of this...

I miss the fucking cold war. Sure, it was scary and all that, but at the end of the day, the only trustworthy America is one that has nukes pointed at it. Take the nukes away, watch the killing start.

This submission title is misleading. If a scientist creates a "crackpot" theory and it has a name and the details of his theory are in wikipedia, what's the problem? All the discussion in the link relates to him not being "notable" enough to be in there.

This info isn't "unconfirmed". NPA personality theory exists:

NPA personality theory is not widely known in psychology. As far as I can tell, there is only a single unique publication about NPA theory: Toward Self and Sanity by Anthony M. Benis, a book published in 1985 and now long out-of-print. The text was republished in a little-known speculative science journal in 1990. That journal is not a psychology journal, and tends to publish speculative articles on fringe science topics such as warp drive.

Why should this information/opinion not be added to the wikipedia article rather than just deleting it?

Your failure to understand the principles involved isn't my fault. It's spelled out for you in plain english in the aforementioned link.

The shortcoming is simple: Digital recording is capable of expressing a finite number of permutations per millisecond based on bitrate of the format. Analogue recording is capable of expressing a near infinite number of permutations. How many molecules thick is a record?

It's not a subjective thing we're talking about. If you understood how it all worked properly, you'd know how silly this discussion (and your position) is.

By the measurement that it is an analogue medium.

It's like the difference between a film negative and a digital camera. The digital camera can grow in quality until it far surpasses the demands of the market, but it will never get even vaguely close to the quality of film.

It's the same with quality vinyl recordings. A vinyl record has a groove carved into it that mirrors the original sound's waveform. No information is lost. The output of a record player is analog. It can be fed directly to your amplifier with no conversion.

You can find a good explanation of it on how stuff works:
    http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/question487.h tm

Digital has many benefits, but quality isn't one of them. As a general rule, anything that's digital is of vastly inferior quality to its analogue counterpart by definition.

Another way to put it might be "CD audio remains inferior to a good turntable."

The only thing CDs were superior to was low-fidelity analogue tapes, and that only because they don't stretch. At no point were they ever superior to vinyl. Why do you think DJs still use vinyl even though we have digital mixers? It's not because they're Luddites, it's because digital sound is inferior to analogue sound. Period.

It doesn't destroy the value of the system, it IS the value of the system.

Googles job is to index the web and assist in finding the items that the most people would find the most relevant.

Google succeeded because they externalized all that work. They don't pay people to read and make determinations like their predecessors did, they found a way to take advantage of other peoples determinations for free.

Now that they have market dominance, they've reached a point where they can dictate how you must arrange your site to assist them in their indexing, and provide you tools to help you make your site just the way they like it. Google provides tools to the SEOs to help them do their job better, for fucks sakes.

Bloggers doing shit like this isn't harming Google. Bloggers doing shit like this is how Google stays topical and relevant as new information comes to light.

Who gives a flying fuck about a business model? I mean, really... if every participant involved enjoys what they're doing, they collectively get the equipment without sacrifices they aren't prepared to make, and they produce entertainment or art that people can enjoy, who cares if there's a business model? Not everything has to be a business.

You know... what should be expected is that good non-commercial art WON'T be appreciated by everyone. Only pulpy Hollywood crap that is stripped of everything controversial, quirky and interesting is appreciated by everyone, and that is only apprecated because we live in the absense of anything more interesting than "bland and mindless but inoffensive".

Ever read a book that made you absolutely outraged? I ranted for weeks in anger after I read 1984 for the first time. It wasn't massaged to make it a "feel good" kind of experience... it was a real work of art from someone who wasn't motivated by sales. Commercial movies just don't do that.

If this meme took off, I would chuck some of my money at equipping my local community theater facility and ask my local politicans to apportion some government money to it. If they can pay for skateboard parks, they can pay for some filming equipment and a supervised warehouse.

Guess some of us just don't think of the loss of Hollywood movies to the world is a big deal.
