Of course it looks promising at this stage. When a product isn't completed it is always presented as the perfect solution.
This is classic with salesmen. "Will your product do such and such?"
And of course Mr. Salesman says yes in order to close the deal.
I understand this is opensource but the concept is the same. For the project to get attention it's presented as the open source skype alternative.
Let's just see it materialize, let's see it's capacities, limitations. Only then we will be able to claim what it is.
Showcasing 'vapor' as the next super thing is easy.
Has the DVD version been reworked that much to look sharper?
It's seems normal that a DVD ripped version be sharper than an analog grab performed on som VHS tape...
Am I missing something here?
Another solution is to get a card like the Matrox RT.X10. It's got inputs for composite, components, and DV. Same thing for output. So that takes care of the capturing part.
Also, it will make editing realtime in Adobe Premiere (which comes bundled with with for those who care about the legit part).
Careful though when you fill up on it, those damn Autobots might show up and blow everything up!!
But try again.. and they will blow it up again!
Wash, rince, repeat and make it a TV series!

This story is actually a dup. But because it's going faster than the speed of light, it got posted before the first instance :)
Well it just has! How about my nice SDTV :-)

Of course I won't... I need a new retina!!
Anyone managed to get some information about how it actually works? Is it DCT based, wavelets?
