Give me a low level user account on your most vital important machine and access to use perl. Also a disclaimer that protects me from any legalities and lets see what happens.
The problem is your now allowing users the ability to write their own perl code into web pages, wich was my original argument. Thats no different than allowing people to use C/C++ but with C/C++ the bugs are in other programs were with perl the problems are in perl it's self as it's a parsed language and the buffer overflows and other exploits are in perl it's self. I dont run perl because I dont know it well enough to write good code, and I probably wont as I can do everything with PHP and the code is alreay writen well. I give my users access to upload their web pages, but not cgi or perl, nor shell access. Allowing mason would be like pasting the root password on my main web page.
You must be a little illiterate as I never said perl had a remote root explot, but now if your letting users use perl in their own web pages that opens the doors for soo much bad code that could result in various remote explots from the numerous (see cert advisories) local perl exploits.
I am an audio buff, and the only real way to be satisfied is to go to a store that has listening rooms. Not a chain like best buy though, you want some place were they will set up systems they way you want for you to sample them. Then listen to some of the units that meet your specifications criteria and price range. Pick the unit and speakers that you think give the best sound combination. Just looking at specsk and prices will do nothing for you. Take for instance Boss, I cant find lots of speakers that sound better than Boss and cheaper but may not be as big of name or high of specs but they just sound better. Not to mention what sounds good to one person may not sound good to the next. So the best thing you can do for yourself is to just listen to the equiptment, this way you get what you want and what you like. Also dont let anyone say 'oh thats garbage you could get this for a better price and it sonds better' because thats bull, you got what you liked, and anyone who tells you that is a dolt. No 2 human ears are the same. mostly have fun, thats why they call it entertainment system!!
If you have large multi-part code you can actualy just burn it to CD and it works well, you basicaly follow the same procedure as making the Linux kernel CD. This has been possible for a long time, and is part of what those warez kiddies lached onto to be able to copy their games. If only they would have been less greedy and focused their efforts towards helping the development of the Linux port we might have something by now. But I guess we are better off without them, and we'll have a nice linux port to be pround of, and with linux's awsome network support maybe companies will use it insted of that lame WinCE networking they are currently forced to use.
Yea, but since sony is so giving and all there are so many developers making drivers too right? Nope, as a mater of a fact unless thye purchase and official multi thousand dollar sony PS2 dev unit they arent allowed to make any software for the PS2, so it's unlikely that you will see these items working untill sony gets the burr out of their ass.
It has SCART out option, wich is useless if your in the US, but no Componet or Digital Video out. No progressive scan either. What about buffering for the layer swap so you dont get teh anoying pause in video, this is a VERY important feature if you ask me and almost no player has it, are DVD makers insane, Id pay a lil extra for that feature, and yea DTS is important. I had an apex because it was the thing of the moment and I hated it, I wont be fooled again, Ill wait till I find the right DVD player, untill then Ill just use my PS2, it's quality is fine for now, and it has DTS and Componet out.
You all do realize that not a single one of those fasion whores has a clue what it is they are realy wearing, let alone how to use it. Unfortunate as it is most geek chicks aren't that attractive. Ive know only 3 or 4. One was a phone phreak/modle that I met at the first PumpCon, the other some of you may know as she hung out in #2600-efnet. Second, the bandwith. Walk onto a univ and measure how much bandwith is being taking up by students leaching off napster alone. The H+ and the DXR3 are exactly the same, but Im guessing you knew that. Well not exactly the bios on the card is different. Im using the w2k H+ drivers for my dxr3 and it works great thanks to a a small prog that makes the software ignore bios and region checks. But since creative basicaly has slow (note I didnt say this was bad, only that Im impatient) developers I elected to use this method to view my DVD's. It's also rumored that this allowes you to use the remote that a 3rd party has developed for the H+ card but I havent ordered on yet, but if these drivers work I may not need to since the drivers are open source ant there are several IRDA devices for linux. Well the bitrate baffles me as it's only 128 and mp3's do higher bitrates, and Im asuming by polyphoic that they mean stereo, but will the compression distort 5.1 or surround encoding like mp3 does? Hmm, gee your probably right, sound is probably only 1 dimensional, and only comes form the left and right, we'll just ignore that sound coming from the front or rear will sound different, and we wont even thing about 3D space and how that affects sound, because we want to listen to something from the 1970's that says quadraphonics is a waste of time, hell we might as well get rid of all these computers too because in 1970 I belive they said there was no way everyone would have a computer in their home. Maybe you should head over to Dolby Labs Technical Information, and have a look at some of the information there. WARRING: you are using netscape, a now inferior browser due to it's desier to try to compete with microsoft instead of doing what it did best. It was crushed and hasn't worked properly since version 3. Please change your browser as soon as possible.
This comming from someone who hates microsoft should be seen as a profound statement. Sure you are going to want to flame this post, but you know that I am correct, and that had netscape not tried to keep up with all the features IE had and just kept to HTML standards and did it well like it had in the past people would still be looking at IE as that annoying program microsoft makes you install when you install windows, and not the better choice.
MAD props to the Mozila team though, Im excited to see the first non beta version, it's looking good, and even the beta seems to crash only about 10% as much as netscape does.

Well this is a great step in the right direction, but what I would realy like to see is some of those powerful 3D tools ported to linux.
