  2. Re:Pseudo-Written Password on Write Down Your Passwords · · Score: 3, Interesting

I use a similar technique, using a dollar bill. Take the serial number of a dollar bill and choose an offset between 1 and 4. Type in each character of the serial number number, pressing the shift key for every character that is a multiple of the offset (every third character for example) This way, you have the password "written down," but it is stored in an inconspicuous manner that will not be recognized or comprimized if you lose your wallet. Obviously, don't lose/spend that bill :)

To my own discredit, I confess that I did nothing more than read about the problems in other states. Now that this has come home to roost, I am giving every spare moment to the fight.
My goal is that once we have won(sensible legislation, not just defeating a single bill), TN can serve as a model, and assist other states in their upcoming fight.
I beseech you, do not wait for this to rear up in your state. Act now. I waited, and only discovered this two months after the bill was introduced.

  8. I'm sorry folks, but this is utter crap. on Violent Games Good for Kids · · Score: 1

I'm sorry folks, but this is utter crap. I'm not saying that I'm opposed to a good round of quake, but if a kid has a stress issue that they need to deal with, retreating into a fantasy world where's its ok to pelt someone with rockets is not the way to do it. When my kids squabble, I take them both in hand and say "settle this", then I usually leave the room. As a result, they have remarkably few serious problems.

  9. certs are not as valuable as solving real problems on Starting a Software Business in Today's Economy? · · Score: 1

Certs are no longer as hot as they were once considered to be. Over the years I've gotten networking and development certs from Novell, Redhat, and M$, and they have not yet gotten me a raise, bonus, or even a pat on the back.
My best advise to you is to learn how to quickly identify and solve business problems. Like money, software is rarely needed for its own sake. Software is needed because of the use-value that it provides. If you can learn to identify business problems and provide solutions to those problems that are profitable not only for you, but for your client, you will be successful in business.
    I wish you every success.
