I am still having a hard time understanding why someone like them can be considered a "Troll" when they had their own company, based on their own patents, which then got steamrolled by a larger, proven infringing company, incurred millions in legal fees fighting this since the beginning of time. Yet they are considered a profiteering troll. Wait until you're the little guy getting stomped on by the high paid lawyers and lobbyists and see who cries foul then...

You missed my point. In "dollar" costs the cell does recover it's financial costs to purchase (and it's more than 2 years). I was referring to the actual energy expended in the manufacturing. It doesn't EVER produce the energy per cell that took to make it (with current technology). That's why the Dept. of Energy has a number of research initiatives into solar cell technology. 12. Wright's pulled a Gates. on Wright Brothers vs. Glenn Curtiss · · Score: 1

From what I understand from reading a lot on the subject of the Wright brothers they were very patent/business savvy like our buddy Bill Gates (and Edison) As opposed to simple visionary engineering types who made a giant discovery. Their wing design breakthrough was actually attributed to a Frenchman (even though they were the first to fly it successfully), and much of their design elements were taken (some suspiciously) from the myriad of other air flight pioneers who were all rushing for the same goal. There was a law suit and big story a long time ago about a North Carolinian who claimed the Wright's were working with him but secretly stole his ideas and rushed to Kitty Hawk to make the historic test flight and were savvy enough with Patent office issues to get the first claim. If presented today, it probably wouldn't have held up based on these intellectual property theft issues. So, the moral? Just like the other big successful "inventors" and entrepeneurs, most were just better and the legal issues, not invention.

You do have a valid point to an extent. What forced me to write my initial post was after reading most of the thread and seeing 40-50% of the articles with the same old anti-Mac childish rhetoric (e.g. "Macs are only for interior decorators", etc) What kind of b.s. comments or those? I've been a Win person as long as anybody, and after a couple years of frustration with enterprise desktop issues in Linux, I've been quite pleased at the direction Apple has moved. I would have assumed that a large contingency of this site would have agreed that a major vendor has moved to *nix. But I guess I'm wrong. I think the fact that Apple has agressively promoted interface style guides has been a plus for the platform and also highlights a long-term issue with Windows programs. (And yes I do realize that Apple doesn't always practice what they preach (iApps), but they are MUCH better about interface consistancy policing with developers than Microsoft is...
