    If you have a critical service, have it at more than one host... That way when AWS has a bad hair day, you are still up.

    Or, have your entire business totally dependent one someone else. (Sounds kinda scary that way, don't it?)

    Perhaps you could elaborate: if the phone manufacturers don't make phones with blood minerals, how will you buy them from someone else?

    They are not eliminating unobtanium. They are eliminating unobtanium from Pandora. So, Bob the arms dealer on Romulous sells some arms for unobtanum, and then sells it to Sprint on DS9 through Quark.

    This is like voting for oil with your dollars. We will not buy from X, but China will. Or Bob the Arms dealer will and then sell it to us from Panama. The rare earth elements are valuable because they are hard to find and in high demand. And unlike oil, you can put a lot of value in a small suitcase, and move it easily.

    Saying "I am not going to buy this very valuable thing from you because you are bad" just gives others the opportunity to make a bit of scratch moving it around.

    So, they meet the goal, but not the "extra" goal to pay for Linux support. I now get charged for a game I can not play... Nope.

    I stand corrected - contrary to what some comments suggested, the project's main development target was Windows, other platforms being only "stretch goals".

    Exactly... And I am not interested in supporting them until I know the game will run on my operating system. (Yes, I know about WINE. If I have to virtualize my environment, I will virtulize my payment as well...)

    I do Internet at hotels a lot. We have done 2 apartments. It was much harder to do the apartments, and they both ended after the contract was up. Most of the hotels roll over the contract each time...

    I think about 60% to 75% of my power use is AC, and I leave multiple computers on 24/7. But AC is not an option in Houston.

    They mean AVERAGE, not maximum output. And if you have batteries in place, and transformers, and actually one little small el.central....

    So it is not enough to power an "average" home for peak use. And it is not enough to power an average home for average use in a very warm climate. AC uses a lot of power.

    Unfortunately, air conditioning does not work as well off natural gas as a heater. My boat needed more than 2.5kw for the air conditioners. In Houston, most of the standby generators in case of hurricanes are 5kw to 7.5kw, and some larger houses have 15kw.

    America is trying to manhandle the Internet. But the UN could give it the death of a thousand cuts. Of course they will run into the reverse problem when they try and run the US, the fact that almost all of the Internet here is privately owned.
