For Apple Legal to smack this project down.
Apple Legal doesn't seem to striking fear into the hearts of many like it used to.
Personally I think Apple could benefit from porting iTunes to Linux (Does it work under WINE?)
Also what's the chance of this project implementing FairPlay?
They look quite weak from that video. They aren't nearly as useful as regular tabs (a la Mozilla, Safari et. al), as a matter of fact Omni's take on "tabs" reminds me of a glorified "Page Holder" from IE 5 for Mac OS 9.
My real question is what does OmniWeb have to offer? It's using Apple's WebKit last time I checked, so it's not a new rendering engine that they have to give, no *REAL* tabbed browsing (which is what I want) so no dice there. I understand more choices are good yadda yadda yadda and all that jazz, but my question still stands, what does OmniWeb have to offer the end user?
Should be to wipe the smirk off that guy's face, I hate looking up and seeing that sarcastic asshole looking down on us with that superior grin on his face, we'll show him!
I see a lot of people posting "time to learn the debian install." Perhaps not (even thought its not hard folks) since anaconda has been ported you might soon see Debian install ISOs with a familiar face. I think Debian + Apt + Anaconda destroys redhat as a desktop distro, as the only problem I had with Debian usability wise was the install, keeping updated and secure is as easy as a cron job. Forget a good day in redmond, I think its a good day for Linux not to be tied by ignorant people to the Red Hat name.
Then again, I can't wait for the FUD C|Net, Dvorak et. al spew out.
Here here! BitTorrent is suppost to be our little remedy for/.-ing./. could make a lot of money by making the torrent tracker available only to those with subscriptions, I'd buy one then in a heart beat.
a pretty much non portable less powerfull machine versus a semi portable power house, assuming these rumors are true which I highly doubt, PPC 970 possibly, PPC 970 in notebooks? No chance, heat and power issues not to mention other things have to be dealt with before they are put in a note book and this processor hasn't been around that long. Then again, have you heard of any 17"'s shipping yet? I haven't.
Oh how I hope Apple wins the counter suit, not only because im an Apple zealot but mostly because it will save bandwidth with elitest arguing over UNIX v. Unix v. *nix
If Apple wins say good bye to half the posts on/.
it's joke, laugh.
Not bad, one of my first experiances with Gentoo, couldn't detect sound, and the X setup guessed wrong but that was nothing I haven't come to expect from PPC Linux, or just Linux in general. I'm wondering why though, gentoo in their infinite wisdom didn't included one of the sought after projects on SF, gaim. Out of all the live CDs i've used this is the first not to have it. And why the hell isn't mozilla in the GNOME menu? has a way to go but looks promising, and a good way to get familiar with gentoo before deciding to install. Im going to try it out on my spare iMac but it's only because Im a bored geek, right now If I had to go on what I saw here and I needed a production machine, I'd still stick with tried and true YDL, they PPC Linux experts.
Just being honest.
ok, so NetInfo is different, RTFM. And it does behave like another unix (lower caps for unix-like), NeXT;)
It's begining to look like NetInfo is out and LDAP is in (maybe in panther). So don't get too attached.
anyone in the slashdot audiance would need this kind of book. OS X is intuitive enough, most would benefit from Mac OS X for Unix Geeks (which even then is a very quick skim).
Because exchanging cool air in a refridgerator would cut the electric company out greatly... I smell conspiracy!
It's not the synching with iPod, it's the ripping off of iTunes look/feel. Apple doesn't take to that well at all.

but then again, who want's to work as hard as icculus?
any unforeseen affects on the eyes, I already burn them to death at my computer...

here is a link to the picture [mac.com] Call it Karma whoring if you will, but I have been damn curious about this for awhile...

so long, and thanks for all the RPMs.
BUT IT IS SO EASY TO USE, NO WONDER IT IS NUMBER 1. AOL IS GOOD. BB IS GOOD. God's in his heaven, all's right with the world.
Hopefully this time there will be more bullet time, ooh ooh, and cell shading.... that would be K-RAD.
Sure, it can eliminate nuclear waste, but can I run linux on it?
Sorry, couldn't resist.
You can bash Carol over Marzipan's head. That would be sweeeeeeet
Then does the AI cheat?
on this man winning the nobel prize? Personally I think he is a shoe-in.

goes to the first person to give me a version of screen that works with OS X like it does with Linux (ctrl + alt + F* gives you a new virt term).

How long TiVO's would be running Linux under the hood if Apple did annex TiVO. Personally, im all for it.
Im not sure If I am supposed to know who this guy is (or any of the books he has written for that matter), and if I am stupid for not.
