"The other night as I was driving home... I had a couple miles to go, when all of a sudden, I saw a great orange light - to the east! When I came to, I was home. What do you think happened to me?"

OK so the company that makes this programs certain movies to be optimized for the effects, while there is a direct sound input option which would likely offer much less precision to the experiance.
I wonder when individual movie studios will be making deals with them for exclusive vibrations or something? Like how TiVo did that thing where it forced people to tape a TV show because they bent to corporate pressure, maybe these guys will send people through the roof with Matrix Reloaded bu sort of... jiggle with Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
Hmmmm....
Of course it's been my experiance that revolutionary features like this in games is either bogged down by the standard nature of the rest of the game, or it is somehow less impressive than it sounds, without it being false advertising.
Disregarding that, imagine the possabilities of a true group of AIs that can interact with one another like this. It sounds like cheap sci-fi, but one could probably make a decend simulation of the rise of humanity from caveman to scholar with a program just a couple generations ahead of what is described here.
Who knows, maybe there will be a legitimate AI culture that'll have to be reckoned with someday. Imagine if they started making art... music...
OK I'll stop with the Trek caliber speculation:)
Well then I'm glad I finally got a scoop on Slashdot. Not bad for a relative/. n00b
This story makes me wonder if we're heading back to those wonderous days of gaming, before frames per second was even a common worry, before parents' groups hated our hobby. Back when game companies put thought into what they produced and wrote. These days, with all the shooter games out there, each new game feels like a disposable summer blockbuster movie. I'm excited.
is waaaayyy obsolete. Where's our Petabyte arrays? Serously though, there are some pretty giant rado telescopes out there. This one had better be worth the extra cash, I mean, you can't even get Astronomy Pictures of the Day with radio telescopes, the pictures ain't pretty enough!
