  1. australian system.. on Cell Phone Number Portability Finally A Reality? · · Score: 0

this has probably already been said (i really couldn't be bothered reading the entire thing...) but the us phone system must really, really suck. you lucky bastards have (so i hear) brilliant broadband infrastructure. ours sucks. the lack of cable tv during the 70s (as there was no boom like in the us) has meant that everything must be new - or use things like adsl (or whatever...). BUT for normal telephones...ours is the best. i never realised that you couldn't tell the difference between mobiles and landlines in the us...it's been like that since the beginning here. and number portability has been around for a while...carriers offer all sorts of incentives to swap now...like $100 worth of credit and whatnot. our numbering system had a small change in the past ten years: adding an extra digit to the front. it meant that there were millions more numbers, and that the system could contine to work well. now our numbers are country code: +61 (but you don't need this...although it appears on mobile numbers when you ring someone...) state code: 8 (well, that's the one for where i live...) area code: 332 (the exchange the call goes through) and then the final 4 digits: 9821 so that's +61 8332 9821 ! or for normal usage 8332 9821 simple. mobile numbers are more criptic, but you can *always* tell if it's a mobile: they all start with 04x - isn't australia just great? ;] lololol.

and, to explain why it was justin bailey, it was because 'bailey' is slang for bathing costume...and justin translates to "just-in"...thus "just in bikini"....and so on.

    sorry.

just a thought, but if my bank gets hacked, i want to know about it....so i can never go back there. (well, after i've got my money out...) companies should be punished for not employing good enough security. any, if that means that everyone gets to know about it, then that's that. harumph.

  4. Re:Scary on Saddam's Inbox Hacked · · Score: 0

I would have hoped you also saw the result of NOT using force when it should have been...like keeping Hitler from rearming after WWI.

i'm not sure if you realise, but Hitler didn't rearm - he was just a simple soilder in WWI. WWII began because of the overly repressive treaties forced upon Germany - the weak governmental system required destroyed any sense of unity, and this allowed hitler to gain power. it's not a case of using force or not using force - in fact, this is an example of using [diplomatic] force far too much.

Saddam isn't abiding by his side of the deal

oh really? (well, to be sure, he probably isn't, but declaring war on someone when they agree to your demands dosen't display any kind of will to prevent war...)

This has very little to do with GWB wanting to kill him because of his father...and that is a really really lame accusation, IMHO.

have you seen the footage from the interview where bush actually says (as good as my memory serves) "this is the guy who tried to get my dad" (or something to that effect.) if that's not clear enough, i don't know what is. really really lame? riiiiiight.

i was just reading some of this, which one of you sluts posted earlier, and i noticed this bit:

Microsoft users don't seem to understand that most basic concept; that the computer should adapt to THEM, and not make them adapt to it.

the writer was complaining about the many ways to close a window in windows. don't they realise that by providing a variety of way to acomplish a task, the user can choose the way they like best? i.e. the user is not constrained by the computer?

mac-philes are fucked up. sorry, but when it gets like this, it can be true.
