Not only is this offtopic, it's based on outdated ideas.
You do NOT have to upgrade every six months anymore. People are running UT2003 on all sorts of systems, and I suspect if you bought wisely a few years ago then you could be running todays games on a 3 - 4 year old system.
Very few games NEED to be run on the highest possible resolution and with everything turned on; they still look spectacular on low and medium levels of detail.
"I've been telling people for a long time to avoid nvidia cards because they get too warm inside a case."
Oh have you? Despite the fact that hundreds of thousands of people use these cards every day and never have any problem with the heat they produce? Riiight.
"I'm not going to sit here and say that this card has more power than it needs."
Well you just did, and you're wrong. If I want to spend this much money to run Soldier of Fortune 2 on 1600x1200 resolution with everything turned on then I'll buy one of these. Never mind whether all it's features are used; it's speed CAN be used if you know how.
I don't know what it's like where you are, but here in the UK "cellphones" (we call them mobile phones) are extremely widely used. It's getting past the stage where they are a "neat gadget" to show to your friends and is now something that is extremely commonplace.
I've got one... a Siemens model. I certainly don't have to shout into it, and I certainly don't use it for business. In fact I don't even use it for calls most of the time; thanks to SMS, I can keep in touch with people unobtrusively. Oh, and it's an MP3 player too, so I can upload my tunes to the phone and listen through the hands free kit.
As I say, I don't know where you live, but I think that it needs to get into the 21st Century.
I don't think that the system described in the news item would "further proliferate the cellphones." It seems like it would provide an overflow for existing users.

I agree. The php.net references are excellent, especially when you add in the user comments that go with each function.
In my limited experience with Java, the Sun docs are overly complex and have few practical examples. I'm sure there are better resources however.
The point is that the most obvious PHP resource is excellent; the most bvious Java resource is not.
Maybe he doesn't know what the hell that means?
Come on. People who are trying to migrate don't expect things like that. If you install one of the common Linux distros you're not going to be introduced to that.
Tell me how the opportunity to "restart your x server" is better than having an app shut down with a single "illegal operation" error after which your OS functions perfectly..
Why didn't you call it, say, Mozilla Lite?
It's not Mozilla. It's backed by mozilla.org, sure, but with each milestone you'll see it further diverge from Mozilla.
Phoenix is just Mozilla with a couple UI tweaks.
We wonder when people will stop saying this. 30,000 lines of code have already been added or changed from Mozilla. We've forked the global history and download manager backends. And XHTML2 is coming to Phoenix.
I don't know if that was a play on words or a reference to Type Ahead Find, but either way Type Ahead Find is a feature of the latest Phoenix milestone.
As far as ease of use is concerned, I was never one who felt that Windows is "inherently easy to use". That's just not true -- it's the fact that Windows has been on 95% of all computers since 1995 that makes it seem to be so easy to operate and learn new applications on.
An operating system which, after thirty seconds of loading presents a user with nothing more than a pretty screen and a button which says "Start". When you click this button you get a menu with minimal options which gives you a list of the programs you're most likely to want.
How much more simple could you want it?
Add into that the fact that every other Graphical OS which is used by more than 50 people is very very similar to Windows. Are Linux Distrobutors creating an alternative interface style? Are they hell. They're trying to create something similar to Windows to make it easier to migrate.
I don't want to have to fiddle with umpteen config files just to get a single Windows app to work under WINE. Tell me why I should make the effort.
And there's the fact that Windows XP is so stable that I've never had it bomb out and even if it did it takes thirty seconds for it to come back up...
The only reason I have come across yet to use a Linux variant rather than Windows XP is to hack off Microsoft. And seeing as the creators of Linux Distros are making an incredible hash of turning Linux into a viable alternative, I really don't see any need for that yet.
No matter what you might think of Windows Xp it's much, much better than 98. Don't install Windows 98 for the sake of a few old games as you will regret it for many other reasons.
This is yet another demonstration of someone moving to Linux for the sake of it. You have to reboot four or five times a week?! Well that's five minutes and ten button presses.
You may have incompatibility problems with old games now, but I can assure you that they are nothing compared to the problems you'll have trying to run them through Wine.
And what about when your kids go to school? Unless they attend one in a very small minority they'll be using a different platform and will be behind the other kids.
You want to save money? Don't buy any more games - use the Shockwave resources on the internet. And you'll be fine with XP for another five years at least.
In England you can get something damn similar called Penguins:)

Oh come on, how did that get modded to 2? This is trolling - the poster doesn't provide any justification at all!
Why was it terrible? How long did you play it for? Half an hour? It's not a simple mod, and it's not easy to get an impression of what it's all about.

I've got into it over the past few days and it's clear that the mod is in it's very early stages.
It suffers from "deathmatch syndrome" like CS... people don't want to work with the team. But I think that at the moment this is mainly because people don't know what they're doing. I think the future of this mod may be decided in a few weeks - if it's players gel to create a community which realises this is a game which needs teamplay, it has a great deal of potential.
To be quite honest, this:
"OS is obsolete before even being completed"
Seems to be a very telling statement when finding out what's wrong with current opinion on non-Windows OS's.
If Linux distro's consolidated and improved the core of what they had rather than bolting on new whizzbang stuff they'd have got a lot further than the hotch potch of usability they have now.
I'm not saying this OS is any better or worse than any particular Linux OS. But slating it because it's not high tech enough is a little silly.
It's main selling point for me is that it's a lot more streamlined... smaller install, smaller memory footprint, faster loading and window opening. Plus they've removed everything that I never use- composer, etc. It's simple and so it's beautiful:)

The parent is clearly on a personal rant.

I meant create Flash... sorry :/
Goddamn! I'm actually jealous... I wanna use Linux. But I get so sick of having to reboot to Windows to use Flash.
