The pentium 3 performs better than the pentium 4. The reason that the pentium 4 was made was to bead AMD to the 2 Ghz mark. All other aspects of the processor were sacrificed for the pentium 4 to reach this milestone. When the average computer user looked at PCs in a computer store they bought the pentium 4 due to the higher MHz, not higher performance. Pentium regained their performance loss from the switch from pentium 3s to pentium 4s by increasing the MHz so much as to offset this performance difference. AMD tried to show the other performance variables in CPUs by renaming their product line to Atholon XP *bla* where bla is the equivalent pentium speed, not clock speed.
AMD has the same problem Apple and motorola used to have. When comparisons were made between the G3/G4 and the pentiums of the time, apple/Motorola said that MHz isn't everything to CPU performance. Unfortunately motorola stopped worrying about MHz and apple has tried to avoid comparisons. Avoiding the issue however is not the correct solution. Waiting for Motorola to come out with something new is not working. Apple needs to start shopping for another vendor for it's processors. Porting OS X to another processor is possible, but who knows how long apple will wait with Motorola.
It took me 5 clicks to actually get to this page./. finally got a taste of it's own medicine after the macworld kenote. Anyone want to repost the story in the comments please...
It's also about selling your sould to the people. They want your drivers license, fingerprint, and a payment method (probably credit card). Your grocery store should not need all these things. And my point was that Safeway already tries to collect information about it's customers with it's club card. The information just happens to be less sensitive, and implemented better using a card instead of your fingerprint.
You can get into a wireless network from VERY far away with the right antennas and equipment. Sensitive data should stay as far away from wireless as possible. The Japanese government did the right thing in pulling the plug. Most companies would just try to use the wireless network anyhow cause they already spent the money on the equipment. Wireless has it's uses. They just do not include sensitive networks.
Overnet released their command line client for the mac. It is great. If you do not fear the terminal, then use Overnet. Overnet is compatible with the edonkey dllinks. You can find the available files with their corresponding links at Sharereactor. Just type "dllink" in overnet and paste the link from sharereactor to download the file. There is no fancy GUI yet, but I'm sure that when this gets bigger, it will have one. I highly recomend this application, but be warned of it's lack of gui. For other file sharing information I recomend zeropaid. Although they don't have the latest mac software, and they are mainly M$ users, they can give you a general idea of the programs available for download.
Safeway already has this. It's called a safeway club card. Other stores have club cards too. Instead of giving out identification about yourself that is on your body (fingerprint or retena etc.) you give out other information. I would rather swipe a card than swipe my fingerprint. Of course my phone number that I gave them might end up in a phone bank's database (I don't know their privacy policy)
I spent my time drinking some beer instead of reading a report on Buffy. I figure I'm going to loose brain cells either way, so I might as well enjoy the buzz after my beer.
My apple works fine with 10.2. It has 2Mb of video memory. One of the first G3's. If you have 32 or more Mb of memory, then the system offloads the rendering of the desktop to your graphics card. This leaves more important tasks for the processor. Neat huh. Since I don't have enough memory, the desktop gets rendered by my processor, the same as it has been done in previous versions. My desktop isn't as fast as newer machines, but I expect that to be true since my computer is 4 years old.
I think your racial slurs probably scared them off.
