...for 8 days at least. I predict they'll see a massive drop-off in users then.
Does anyone see any future in subscription services, or will we stay in p2p anarchy for the rest of our days (or until the megacorporations take the networks down)?
You're making out technology to be this evil demon that is the single most important reaon life sucks or something like that. The fact is, almost everything has a good and bad side. Sure, the Internet has given us porn and popup ads, but it has only caused webblogs, increased communications, Google, Slashdot, etc. etc.
And another thing, pyramid schemes do not only exist online...
As the article says, "It's business, not personal..." A lack of fan sites will push those casual fans to surf over to the league's official sites, thereby creating a massive infusion of advertising dollars, created by banner ads...oh, wait, it's September 2002...
There is something to be said about the sites using the team's official trademarks. If I set up a Mr Fenty fan site, can I use your official Mr Fenty logos? Please....
...can still be found by telnetting to towel.blinkenlights.nl. It's not the same as being on the side of a mega-skyscraper, but it was cool the first time I saw it, and is still cool now. I wish that they would update, though.
I think the article means that because humans and chimpanzees have incredibly similar DNA, a minority of the human population (just like a minority of the pre-epidemic chimp population) has immunity, just like those chimps that survived.
I do not think that would work, as this is "email forwarding," which concerns mostly people changing their email addresses when they close down old accounts or stop checking them.
Definitely the same type of people using new methods. Have you looked at your mail lately - seems like most of the stuff I get is spam or fraud-related (no pr0n, yet...)
It is inviting flames, and thus was marked as "flamebait?" Or that there is an inherent contradiction between "stealing" your "favorite" artist's music?

Yeah, Bill Gates is a geek, too. Let's all kiss and make up...
Random Geek: I'm sorry I switched to Linux!
Billg: I'm sorry Windows has so many bugs and so much stupidity!
(group hug, fade to black)
In reality, being a geek is no excuse for stupidity. Then again, you bought those X10 cameras, funding hundreds of popup ads. Shame! Shame!
It could still be useful. Wrap the Mona Lisa in the middle of one of these babies and watch it seemingly disappear, leaving a blank wall in its stead.

Someone is going to patent email, or (God forbid!) posting, and then we are all going to be screwed.

Now what with the tabloids write about? Oh, wait, there's a wolf boy discovered in Texas!
