The full context of that quote doesn't change the fact that Pelosi is a moron. Examination of the full body of her work (and innumerable impolitic statements) would be required to understand that.
You, sir, are an opponent of human liberty. You can try to twist your meaning however you like, but you're an advocate of a totalitarian state, controlling every aspect of your life. Your reasons for feeling that way are irrelevant. Hypothetically "destroying the planet" isn't a good enough reason, since there isn't a good enough reason. For feeling that way, you are going to be partially responsible for the deaths of many people and the misery they live under before the evil you advocate is redressed.
Not in the name of the religion. The IRA were Marxists, if anything. They even had the support of the Soviets.
There s Oklahoma.
Not in the name of any religion. McVeigh actually claimed "Science is my religion".
There are people bombing and killing abortion doctors,
Not recently. 1990s, much?
look at there brutality of the Christians on the 10th parallel. Killing hundreds of children, burning down towns.
Not since the Enlightenment. Comparing today's Muslim terrorism to the actions of Cortes or Pizarro is disingenuous in the extreme. 500 years ago, really?
Pits with the bodies of hundreds of children killed by Christians.
Not in the name of the religion. You're seriously suggesting that the Nazis, for example, were motivated by religion? Really?
Doctors refusing to give service to non evengelical christians.
Yawn. So now you change the definition of terrorism. Nice way to illustrate a weak point.
theres you FUCKING Christian TERRORIST you myopic twit.
YOU COCK SUCKERS PISS ME OFF TO NO END.
You obviously don't realize that we generally don't express our opinion of "you people". "Beneath notice" comes to mind.
None of those terrorists you mention were religiously motivated except the abortion nuts.
McVeigh wasn't even religious. Claimed "science is my religion".
Are you suggesting Nazis are religiously motivated? Committed Nazis are near-pagans. It's true that the Klan pretended to be Christian but they didn't perform lynchings in the name of their deity.
The Yugoslavian war might have been about different religious sects Muslim/Catholic/Orthodox (and in some cases about ethnic differences) but the fact is that most of the residents couldn't give two shits about religion, it's just xenophobia. P.J. O'Rourke's comment about Bosnia seems quite apt: the difference between the groups was that they all basically didn't (and still don't) pray to their respective deities in the prescribed way. In other words, there was no difference.
I'll grant you the abortion nuts. That said, it was never particularly widespread. In addition, you'll be hard pressed to find some Biblical support of shooting abortion doctors. You'll only require a few moments to find support in the Koran of killing unbelievers.
I'm totally surprised that they brought up the oppression of the people of Cuba in this article. Pleasantly so. If they'd have brought up the deaths and forced emigration that have been going on for even longer than Castro has been in power, then they'd really have something.
Regardless, Castro is a scumbag murderer. The sooner he and his family exit power, the better.
You can say this again. This site is so leftist that it's painful to read at times. I used to go here first - now I go here last. Soon, I won't bother coming back.
He eliminated almost all nude art from Germany except that which depicted adult Aryan women in clean surroundings. Berlin was a pretty wild place in the 20s - Hitler ended that.
This guy should not be sitting for laudatory news coverage. These are the same people that brought you death sentence fatwas in absentia, and the religious nutjobs to carry them out.
Hearing what people say on the ground doesn't sell newspapers/ad views. The truth is that anything the government does at a macro level is disorganized and spotty on the ground. In some places, the US presence did good and we got stuff done. In some places, it was not well received. The variable was generally the people involved. Quality officers/government employees got good results, the mediocre and uninterested got nothing done or made enemies for us.
My experience was that Iraqis wanted life to be peaceful, orderly and to have control of their own destiny. We might not like their choices, but they are theirs to make.
Soldiers never really understand 'what they are supposed to be doing' or 'why they are there' on anything but a slogan level (Fight Communism! Fight Terrorism! End Fascism!). I go all over the world and hear the same thing from soldiers everywhere. Their officers know better, but it seems to me that the officers often give a very serious briefing to their people (once) and assume that the mission brief means the same thing to the common soldier that it does to them. They are immersed in planning for said mission. It's their life. It's just some droning speech to the soldiers. If you read back to WWII or even before that, this is a common feature of military life, then and now.
Afghanistan is a losing game and we all know it. Just waiting for the clock to tick now towards the ultimate withdrawal.
I did a deployment to Iraq in 07-08. My sister was killed in the line of duty (Army). My parents have a triangular box with flag to 'commemorate' that. These games are fine. The woman complaining is an ass. Unless they started naming people and having you kill real people, the issue is moot. We all know there are enemies out there and they shoot to kill. Simulating it isn't a problem.
Reading back on what Roosevelt and his underlings had to say during WWII, that's an entirely founded belief. The US refused to undertake actions purely based on its antipathy toward the maintenance of the British Empire. One of the big reasons a landing in Greece or Yugoslavia was never attempted, in fact.
It wasn't until after the Stalin regime that the Comintern or "international communism" was considered to be a joke. It was considered a real entity in 1939, and had real adherents.
The cooperation of Western communists, on Stalin's orders, was invaluable to the Nazis before June 22, 1941. That isn't Russian - French, British, etc communists.
I think you might have a pear/apple issue yourself, or are badly misinformed.
Oh don't believe Obama or his minions, there's no anti-Brit sentiment. Any idiot over here could tell you that. And our current occupant in the White House is one of the biggest.
Live in a state on the coasts and you'll be saying the same thing about the Democrats. You thumb your nose at the urban machine politics at your peril. This vaunted 'freedom of expression' you describe, does not exist.
Youtube is pretty much unwatchable now, between the annoying boxes people put on videos to the annoying ads. I may never find out about their new features, because I don't go there anymore.

Your moral equivalence bullshit only works amongst the stupid. Where are the Christian terrorists?
This is Comedy Central thinking at its worst.

Why is this asshole troll modded up?
And you wonder why other sites are eating your lunch, /.

You're right. The pessimists are generally ETSing. Seeing a lot of that nowadays...

Please, Media Matters is a left wing front organization. Everyone has a bias, but theirs is most obvious.
Clue: We don't give a shit what the rest of the world thinks. He's out of touch with mainstream America, and that's all that counts.
Thanks for playing.
For Barstow, a bulldozer and starting over would be the best policy.

The Communists fought the Nazis when they weren't actively allied with them.
Clean hands, and all of that.
Same here. Not installing that garbage.
Obviously, their grammatical misconceptions cost them something, this time.
