  5. ISO Calendar on New Calendar Proposal · · Score: 1
Problem with almost all calendar reforms is that they try to keep both weeks and months. That is, they try to still "look and feel" like Gregorian. They can't figure out how to fit leap years in without screwing things up.

The nice thing about the ISO calendar is that it does away with months altogether. The amount of weeks per year varies, but that isn't a problem since you don't have to find a month to fit it into.

The Kodak patents are dated 1993 and 1995. The Oak programming language, which is the basis of Java, existed by 1992. See Wikipedia.

This appears to me to be a case of prior art, by Java itself. I guess Kodak thinks changing a product's name is equivalent to it being born. Anything that existed before never happened.

I have a friend whose firewall was configured to block all ports. He still got the virus. His wireless access point was behind the firewall, and he got it from a neighbor.

Blocking ports to internet traffic just stops one entry point, but as wireless becomes more popular, we'll probably see more worms spreading that way instead.

How can this possibly be a hoax? It is an idea, and ideas cannot be hoaxes.

Does this person really exist? Did he really write this paper? Is it really going into a scientific journal? It doesn't matter, for the idea is the same.
