Maybe somebody will explain emulation to me. We load/run linux/mac in order to find alternative so that we can run windows emulation on linux/mac. It is cool technology wise, but does it really make much since. It is like recursive user interfaces. Somebody should run linux on windows under wine. linux->wine/windows/->linux. It did this in bochs, it was kind of cool. Oh yea, to answer my question I guess it is cool to run windows software through emulation, thats all...
Well after reading all the linux reviews of the 3 major distros. It looks like the best choice is neither of the three. No I am just kidding I will probably go with redhat. But it looks like the reviewers werent overly excited about any 3. I disappointed about the Mandrake review. Because I really like 8.2, shrug. But it looks like the Xfree86/DE aspect of linux distros is catching up with Windows but they are also becoming as slow. Do what windows will be doing, go with the XML approach, maybe next update...
But think about it, we are getting closer and closer to the Star Trek/Star Wars gadgets. All we need is a computer that responds to 'Computer Where is Captain Kirk?' If those aerospace engineers over at nasa would get on the ball, we might have flying ships.
People will say how easy minix is to understand and program for. I totally disagree and to rebuttal, linux is way easier to write drivers for and other low-level stuff for. Minix was a mess, that is probably why it never caught on(and of course licensing). It will take you a year to figure out how to write a driver in minix, it may take 10 minutes in linux. The microkernel approach made it brutally slow also. pass msg->tolib->lib passes to kernel->kernel passes to memory->memory passes msg to->whoknows where->msg finally gets to user program.
They really should do a comparison of the new Redhat to SUSE to Mandrake. Of course it is going to be good compared with itself. I guess Ill have to buy/download/formatdrive/install all three to get a real overview of the differences.

I dont know what china's intentions are but if they are trying compete in America it seems like they should try to build a software following as opposed to hardware. Maybe by building this cpu they can create a larger software base, shrug. If you like at the top 10 richest guys in America, you have to wonder maybe a lot of these countries should be in software, even japan. Their economy is struggling lately.
Did slashdot just change the site, realtime. wtf is going on. I click mandrake site cant get on, I check the slashdot link again and the site has changed, ahhh...
Did slashdot kill the server, maybe that is the test of a distro. It is a superstition kind of thing. If server goes down, means bad luck for 7 months after the release date, otherwise 7 months of good luck.

This is a country that has only 50,000 people in their armed services, maybe they should spend more money on that as opposed to iris scanners.
Im never fp
Besides major corporations, does anybody else buy software?
