wah wah wah, how does not doing anything make anything better? even pushing money into gangsters hands (to an extent ofc) will make the area richer than doing jack shit. if you wish to dispute this, please show how doing nothing is better than doing anything. Preferably with diagrams.
Only if you don't know much about python, try looking at stackless python. eve online, the mmorpg with the current world record for concurrent players was written almost entirely in python.
Here's the bit: Kyocera Fine Ceramics is one of the world's leading manufacturers of all that is advanced ceramics. The company recently announced a new relationship with Chef Ming Tsai, who endorses Kyocera's ceramic cutlery on his Emmy Award winning cooking show. In addition to offering ceramic knives, Kyocera also offers graters, peelers, and mandolins - but not shavers. Why not shavers? Because a ceramic razor blade, unlike a metal razor blade, does not have a rounded edge - making shaving not so much shaving as much as skinning.
That is such crap, i have (myself, not talking about some website) run osx 10.1 through to 10.3 on a variety of g3 macs including deskgtops and laptops and it ran like a dream, much better than os9. I'm not a mac fanboi by any stretch of the imagination, most of my systems run windows and linux and i can say right now, ubuntu runs slower on my old(er) system: a 1gig amd with 1 gig of memory than osx 10.3 runs on a g3 laptop (admittedly with 700meg of memory)
It should be replaced by the "Stupid fucking idea" key, so every time you're about to code something you just hit and it kicks you if it's a stupid fucking idea, saving yourself the trouble of doing just that after 5 hrs of trying to get a page of useless code to work.
The difference is anyone who would actually be interested in looking at the windows source doesn't want to see it in case they dirty their eyes and can't work on other OS stuff any more, where as betas of OSX are interesting to the general public. I doubt it's hard to get a copy of the windows source if you really want it.

So, yeah, not particularly humourous examples of it, but by the (admittedly older) definition the song is pretty much spot on for most of the lines, ie "No smoking signs on you cigarette break" or "10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife" which, via the general overabundance of cutlerly, you'd think there'd be a knife. I'd apologize for breaking down a joke into pretty unfunny pieces, but it is rather old now.
XML makes things harder, it's just the way it is. From what you say the only advantage is not having to escape chars, i'd probably agree with that. XML was a good idea, however there needs to be more simple components available to access it, prolly (scarily) in SQL like syntax. I've fiddled with it quite a bit in python, then came across an article that basically said "If there needs to be code involved, why not just make it python? It's not like it's hard, we're not talking java here" and thus was enlightened. However, without the XML it'd just be AJA, and that alone would have forstalled it's entry into the mainstream.
There won't be a huge exodus from WoW, it's the biggest game in the world with millions of addicts, you think they're all gonna just go wtf? why am i spending 50+ hrs grinding so i can get a new hat? It will die eventually, but it will be a slow death prolly over the next 2-3 years. The truth is, for all it's flaws, it's still one of the best and most popular which is a feature in and of itself as it gives you lots of people to play with.
so it's under %10 in north america including console but not PC hardware, i'd say it's a bit more than.05%, no matter where you shop.
You are right that the linux gaming market is not worthwhile however, who uses linux for games? The most intelligent thing these companies could do is drop a bundle of cash on the cedega crew to get some better support via cedega, then include a 3 month subscription to cedega with the game itself. This would make the whole thing cost them bugger all and they could look like good guys in the process.
nah, what they should do is just hire some other shlubs to get it to compile in linux. All of the hard work is done, you just have to switch the renderer across to openGL, switch the sound system to openAL and probably also re-write steam (Since that's where they're going with their whole business strategy.). It's nowhere near the 5 years development time to do this, mebee 6 months work absolute maximum if the guys they get to do it have done it before.

whilst it may not take tutorials to do a straight line, photoshop also requires quite an investment to learn how to do anything interesting. I remember being quite frustrated for many hours before i got it to start doing what i wanted.
Eh, when you take into account that every cell in your body is replaced every 2 weeks (i think this is correct, but just say "every once in a while") you quickly get to a point where worrying about it isn't productive:)
The problem is that the opposition leader is an absolute dick and it is very difficult indeed to get anyone not in the major 2 parties elected prime minister. I mean, I KNOW howard is a malevolent bastard, but beazley is the dumbest thing i have ever seen. How can he lose against that when he's got the elderly vote as well? If only that other guy hadn't left, he probably would have won the next election.
Game devs aren't dumb, they're gonna have to get quite a substantial cash injection from ms to make the upgrade to dx 10 (for a marginal increase in functionality) worthwhile, since the cost is basically cutting their customer base in half.
I'd disagree with that, education is never a bad thing and sometimes you have to wait till someone hits rock bottom before you can help them turn their life around. There are some people who just aren't that smart, but this shouldn't preclude them from playing a role in a functioning society, no matter what rung they have to sit on.
They do have vastly more participants, and i'd also like to point out that if people are writing articles on their garage bands who gives a crap? it's not like you're gonna go searching for "purple infinty and the hedgehogs" are you? If you want a good example of how wiki kicks the butt of paper encyclopedias just search for any little podunk town in the world and see it's history. Yeah it sucks for a lot of controversial issues, it doesn't mean you can't have a regular encyclopedia as well if you think that'll help you.
You are correct, this is the only place where Python makes things harder. I love the Python, i hate the python web dev. It's annoying to develop and (as far as my limited experience goes, but popularity is all about baseless opinions) less stable and less efficient at runtime.
It does the same thing as foxmarks only half as good, foxmarks is nearly invisible and can use any server you want via ftp or webdav, google adds about 20 sec of synching time on booting, where as foxmarks synchs in the background while you surf. stick with foxmarks for now

true, but you can't do shit once you've got the os running anyway, so why not just chuck it in the bin and by a $50 p3 second hand?

I've got a mac keyboard on my pc, there's no numlock or scroll lock key! There are the unmapped f14-f16 though so i guess it's kinda a moot point.

damn, sorry, i should have dug deeper into that thread before posting....

Heh, if they're filling their drinking water with corpses i'd say they have a lot more problems than just m/f imbalance.
Nah, there is only age limits on voting, not maturity limits. That is why digg has such a low signal to noise ratio, it's a more pure democracy.

What? before direct X there was like... opengl and before that there was glide... but that was only 1 card... ahh, what was your point?
