...someone is going to bother watching one of those crap camcorder-filmed bootlegs, chances are they weren't ever going to pay to see the movie anyway.
If you're going to share a movie on the net, do it properly. Rip a DVD and share that.
Primarily cos they just use the first thing that is in front of their face.
One small step towards fixing this is to be involved as much as possible with all new computer installations.
Your mum is getting a new computer? Go in there and set it up for her. Put mozilla and firefox on the desktop, show her how to use them, and remove all the IE icons. She won't know any better and you can rest easy knowing there's less chance your inheritance is going to disappear from her bank account.
I've also never known anyone that happened to be on vacation, filming the city or what have you, and then be overcome with the sudden urge to pop in for a movie.
You don't know many people then. I see films all the time when I go on holiday. I generally have my camera with me. I travel by train, so I have no car to leave my camera in, and I stay in youth hostels, so leaving expensive equipment in the room is as good as leaving them on a table in a fast-food restaurant with a sign that says "STEAL ME".
So I will be taking my camera into cinemas for the forseeable future.
I'd *love* to turn off Javascript, but there's so many idiots that use it in their webpages these days that using a large proportion of the web would be impossible.
Not that this currect problem affects me, since I use Galeon, but still, I'd love to see the end of Javascript...
Of late? Star Trek has been formulaic ever since TNG hit the screens. Just watching reruns of Voyager, you can see the same patterns over and over again, that were in TNG, DS9 and the original.
Meanwhile, truely groundbreaking and interesting programs like Firefly only last for one series before being axed:(
I fail to understand why anyone even bothers with hotmail anymore. There's nothing less professional looking than putting a free-email address on your business card or website.
I didn't see any sort of blaming of America in that original post. I saw someone criticising the US education system and the amount of money going into the military budget.
Then I saw you (well, I assume it was you, all you Anonymous Cowards look alike to me) going off your tree in a semi-literate brainless patriotic rant.
As for insulting people? *I'm* not going to hold back from criticism for fear of insulting people. Why should I cater to the petty insensitivities of idiots?
In answer to your question - there's no reason why the USA should love me. I frankly couldn't give a damn *what* the USA thinks of me.
Depends on your country. It's illegal in Australia.
It's also illegal in New Zealand. There is talk of changing that there, but the local record association is doing its damnedest to prevent that from happening.
Maybe if Apple had made an iTunes for Linux, it might have been a while longer before things like this popped up. Look at Real: it took several years before anyone bothered making another player for their files on Linux, since they already provided one.
Speaking of which, did anyone actually reverse engineer Real's format, or does mplayer just use their shared libraries?
The article says that if another fails, they will have to use thrusters to keep the thing stable. So can someone perhaps explain to me what the gyroscopes physically do to keep it stable?

Yeah, I believe the medical term for it is lobotomy.
...needs someone to help them break this law, I am more than willing to assist.

Uh..huh. Using legal methods to influence everyday language. Yeah, that will really work.
...it takes a long time to compile.
Oh, he said buying public. Cheaparse bastards like me who compile the source don't count, I guess ;)
...that I'll stick with LegWay, thanks.
Even so ... they should just get an ISP. Geez, it's not like dialup is expensive.
Small businesses shouldn't be spamming people anyway, so it's a moot point.

I'm avoiding iPods because they're bloody expensive. $249 (mini) or $299 (regular) for a souped-up walkman? Ridiculous.
Small flash-memory USB-stick mp3 players are priced around the $80-$90 mark, which is a much saner figure for personal music.
The only PC's I ever got with Windows on them were laptops. All of my other PCs were clean.

That's doesn't answer my question. Why do you think the USA is so beyond criticism?
So tell me, honestly. Why should someone blindly, without question, love the United States of America?
What is wrong with constructive criticism? If a country is so great, its merits should easily be able to withstand any criticism.

Yes, that's because it's only one apple.

I ain't working overtime.
...cos I'm just going to keep using ogg vorbis and mp3 files ripped from CD.
Your DRM encumbered, proprietary malware is redundant.
