  1. Re:Old old old on Top Ten Shameful Games · · Score: 5, Funny

You're absolutely right! Rating these first games IS beating a dead horse; however, it's a horse I'd like to beat BECAUSE I've got lots of fond memories of playing the original videogames. Lots of us do. Lots of us remember watching our older brother, and his jerk friend Lance, play new games for their Atari, and their NES, waiting eagerly for our turn which never came. I was the little brother who was sent to my older brother's friend's house against my will because it was convenient for both sets of parental units. (Okay, now I'm venting.) My first fascination about video games came from waiting, and waiting, to play Atari or NES. Asking through burning tears, "When's my turn?" My brother's friend Lance replies, "Never. Why are you here anyway?" And then I cry, "I DIDN'T WANNA COME HERE!!!" And then the closest I get to playing a video game is getting hit in the nose by a football... Hmm... Maybe this has something to do with why I hoard classic video games now, and maybe this has something to do with why I love beating the dead horse of those old games by reading articles about them. And maybe those old games aren't so old to people like me who enjoy reading those lists of the worst ones. They're not so old to me because I didn't get to play them when they originally were released because my brother's friend kept me away from them! So now I ramble on and on about how I hoard these games, and cherish info about them now, because I didn't get to play them back then! Okay, sorry for the venting rant, but maybe someone'll sympathise and give me a score of 5 in the mod, eh?

  2. Re:Physc on What's Your Earliest Memory? · · Score: 1

I remember my first dream. This may sound strange and weird, but it's true. I was a soul walking through a mall-like store with guardian angels; they took me to a music box -- I opened it, and listened to its music. I couldn't figure out where the music was coming from. The box was very thin; it was golden on the outside, and red fabric lined its inside. The point is: the box was thin, and there were no mechanical apparatus, or anything, within it -- the music just came from somewhere! I had no idea what was creating the music, until I asked the angel, and he said, "The music is you." Strange as it sounds, that's my first memory, and it's of my first dream.

  3. Re:Quantum Physics -- entanglement on 100th Anniversary of Quantum Physics · · Score: 1

Your post made me realise that the article I read about entanglement sucked. And then I posted the same wrong information to slashdot without knowing how wrong the information was.

  4. Quantum Physics -- entanglement on 100th Anniversary of Quantum Physics · · Score: 2, Insightful

I read a thing about entanglement; that's a quantum-physics thingy when one particle is "entangled" with another particle; it means that the two particles are exactly the same; they're a pair which do the exact same things at the exact same times, and it doesn't even matter how far apart they are in the universe; they'll always do the same things at the same times no matter where they are in the universe. One could be on mars, and a person could drain two electrons from it, and its partner could be on pluto with two electrons jumping from it. Yes, you can manipulate these particles and their manipulations would be copied wherever else they are in the entire universe -- isn't this freaky stuff? Ever since hearing this entanglement thing, which isn't a theory THERE'S PROOF!!! Anyhoo, once I heard about this, it started me thinking about communications applications, and soforth. Ever heard of an ansible? If you have, you're gasping now at the possibility of such things actually existing, all thanks to entanglement. For those who don't know, an ansible is an instantanious communication device which can be used anywhere in the universe; it's currently just a theory, but thanks to quantum entanglement of particles, it's more possible. See, entangled particles come in pairs. One could be on earth, and the other could be on Catland, which is the planet in the center of the universe. Someone makes the one on earth cause an atomic blast, and the one on Catland will cause an atomic blast -- faster than lightspeed travel because it's not actually faster than lightspeed travel because the pair of particles are the same thing! Trippy, ain't it? It's quantum physics. Quantum Physics is cool! Happy birthday Quantum physics! (Banana Chan, which wasn't mentioned here, is at http://www.geocities.com/radiomovie2002/ )

  5. Other Anime: BANANA CHAN! on Sequel to Ghost In The Shell · · Score: 0

Ghost in the Shell is great anime; it's among the many which inspire BANANA CHAN! BANANA CHAN is a teleplay development project on the net whose goal is to use plot devices from ALL anime in a single well-told storyline about the comic misadventures of a single teenage mother and her grandson from the future. So far, nine episodes, and one movie, are on the site, in teleplay form. So what's this have to do with GHOST IN THE SHELL, you ask? A set of future episodes of BANANA CHAN take place in a future which closely resembles the one on GHOST IN THE SHELL. However, instead of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it's a company called Megalith which creates orphan-drones for the purpose of murder, large bus-like killing machines called deathlercoasters, and ... well, to say more would give it away. Sorry for the blatant ad -- no, I'm not.

  7. I USE IT! on Dreamcast Modem Is Reverse Engineered · · Score: 0

Let it be known that I'm using a Dreamcast to post this message to Slashdot.

Before I go to sleep every night, I use this Dreamcast to check e-mail, to read AnimeFu and Slashdot, and to take a look at the site counter on the Banana Chan site at http://www.geocities.com/radiomovie2002/

Hey, why not give that counter a few clicks, eh guys?

I bought this Dreamcast earlier this year because I don't have to go to my local Computer Lab to check my e-mail every day -- now all i have to do is come home.

  8. Napster Movie on Napster: The Movie · · Score: 0

His idea of sharing music was noble. Someday we'll reach a Star Trek-esque utopian society where everything is shared -- Napster was a good start towards reaching that goal. Warez and innovative software for Dreamcast are other good initiatives towards reaching a utopian, Star Trek-esque society.
Let me tell you a story...a good metaphor for this topic: I slapped on my cleanest pants and my cleanest shirt today, and I said to myself, "Today, I'm gonna find a job!" I went to Jack Fraser Mens Wear in the Midtown Plaza mall in Saskatoon, and gave my resume to the manager, and here's what she said, "Usually, when someone comes in here dressed like that, I throw their resume away! You're a poor advertisement for yourself." Shocked, I replied, "People apply for jobs because they want to dress like that *pointing at merchandise*, but they must dress like this *pointing at myself*. Everytime you throw away a resume based on how someone's dressed, you're discriminating, and you're being counter-productive to society!" Then she smiled, and said, "No I'm not." I replied, with an angry lump in my throat which caused my voice to involuntarily deepen, "Yes you are, and your rich-get-richer while poor-get-poorer attitude gives me the worst kind of disgust." Then, feeling as if I needed to hit something, I silently said, "Excuse me," and I left the building -- I had to cool down. Anyway, I hope I got the job, now what were we talking about?
Oh yes, how the music companies were trying to hold down the little guy; it's just like how the manager of that clothing store represses the poor. The music companies come to him with their big lawyers, telling him unintelligible legalese while he's just trying to share music with his buds who happen to be the world! The Napster guy, for that reason, is productive to society, because he shares! That rich-get-richer while poor-get-poorer bitch at the clothing store is the exact opposite of the Napster guy -- she's like the soulless lawyers who tried to destroy Napster. Well, at least that's my opinion.
