A USA special forces guy gaurding the new PM, came under fire. He ordered an airstrike but gave the co-ordinates of his own location, not the guys attacking. 3-4 guys got killed
This might sound bizzare.....Could he also put himself down as a candidate. So the people who want to keep him tick the we dont want him box, but also tick the vote Davis box. This way he could get around the statistical problem

Actually here is something to add.
Peter has never see a computer in his life
Billy lives in an area with no electricity
Paul lives in a religious establishment
All go on and abuse children. All get caught, there is no obvious link found. Does that mean child abuse is random? No statistical links at all?. Or maybe Peter and Billy were once in Pauls care he abused them and a cycle begun. Child abuse should be looked at as serious issue, and a full examination of the reasons explored. If some say statistically a "viewer" of kp is likely to offend physically, one must ask why are they viewers? Trying to make simple statistical links about peoples behaviour is stupid. If I said all 3 guys above liked wearing blue polo shirts, would wearing polo shirts be evil.
As an aside I think it strange that the/. crowd who are normally up in arms when vid games are linked to violence, are not so sure on this one.

Sorry Not being funny but just missed the point of the bacteria thing. I did think you were suggesting that they did not exist.
As for ADHD and Ritalin I'm not sure. But I do think you should bear the following in mind. When lobotomies first came about they were hailed has great things. And people with all sorts of depression and mental illness were treated that way. Check this article http://www.geocities.com/~themistyone/freeman01.ht m. Whether they helped the condition was one thing, but they did make patients in metal institutions easier to manage. This may be a bit harsh but many parents just can't manage healthy active kids, who naturally want to examine and poke at every thing. wouldn't it be nice just to give them a pill and get a few hours of quite.

I had a lecturer in college who worked in some big metrology lab in Germany. He told us a story of this old guy who worked in national standards lab. The story goes that every now and again "The Kilo" is loaned out so that each country can compare against their own kilo. When it gets back the old guy baths the kilo in alcohol and the polishes it with a special cloth then it is bathed in alcohol again. The same guy had been doing it for 50 odd years, and they were able to measure the drift in weight of "The Kilo", all was fine until he died. When the new guy went and washed "The Kilo", He managed to alter its weight more substantially, thus causing the problem we have now. Don't blame me if this is bullshit I was a lowly undergraduate when I heard this.
The idea of using silicon is that you can make very perfect crystals. With very perfect dimensions. So a single cell silicon crystal would have proportionate dimensions to one a million times its size. You know how many atoms are in a single cell, then measuring the dimensions of your giant crystal you know how many atoms are in it. And thus can calculate the weight based on the atomic weight of a silicon atom. The same lecturer told us this, however he gave the example of carbon so that the kilo could be linked to the mole.
In Ireland anyone can work as a vote counter they just have no legal basis to challenge any thing. This is reserved for the participants of the election. That includes independent candidates as well as political parties
With regards the voting in public...There are specific provisions in Irish law that means that any interested party is allowed and to be fully facilitated in the inspection of the entire voting process, to which there interest pertains. For the proposes of this law this means A candidate or his election agents, and he may only inspect the process in the constituency that he is interested in.
Just before the last general election, I mentioned this to a party worker of the then Attorney General (he is now minister for justice), and was brushed aside. I also mentioned this to a friend of mine who is a labour party activist and normally acts as an election agent for some prominent TD's. He was more interested but when he queried HQ he was brushed aside.
So the solution is this, run as a TD or councillor (or president), and then demand the source code before counting proceeds. If you don't get it bring them to the high court. I know of a few barristers who are very unhappy with e-voting, for constitutional reasons, who could help you out.
By the way, currently many smaller parties run candidates in areas the know they will lose in simply to inspect the voting process. This is so they can gain data as to what areas are voting for what party, What the spoiled votes are saying etc.
This is the sort of nonsense that puts people off open source or what ever you want to call it. If you were the owner of a business any size business would you want to have involvement with software that was written by these people. My god is better than your god he's got six arms, well mine can make chardonnay out of gallean sea water.... crap. Fix bugs, add needed features, and make it so people "want" to use it. (By people I mean your mother, grandson, butler, and gardener)
My two European federal cents worth.
