I have been developing a hosted application (Application as a Service) with WebObjects and I must say it has completely spoiled me over all these other technologies. I have been able to rollout release after release of high quality, maintainable, fast and scalable code. I have used quite a few other technologies except for Ruby and .Net, but I really cannot believe that productivity I have had with WebObjects. Plus, its caching has made people comment on "is this really a web application". It so far has played nicely with other frameworks, like jFreeChart, and I cannot recommend WebObjects enough. It kind of reminds me of some article I read where a company chose to use LISP. They were able to constantly stay ahead of the competition etc., until Yahoo bought them out. Well, WebObjects has been our secret weapon and we are able to run rings around the competition wih our productivity. - jimijon

WebObjects is absolutely phenomenal Java Framework. About six months ago I started a new development for a hosted web application. After reviewing our choices and budget we opted for WebObjects. Wow where we delightfully surprised. WebObjects Rocks! I cannot tell you how much better it was then other application frameworks I have worked in. Now if Apple would do some marketing there, I could maybe find more jobs using my new tool of choice. Go WebObjects.

Just want to put my two cents in here. I am the developer of a product which is a hosted application. Being a bootstrap startup, we had to be careful with our budget. I was already experienced with Java and wanted to continue in that world leveraging my skills. After much review I came upon WebObjects. The price seemed right and I was just getting into my Apple OS X laptop in a big way. Well, I can't tell you how amazingly productive WebObjects turned out to be. And!, I can deploy it on WebSphere or jBoss too! WebObjects runs the iTunes store so you know it can scale and the price was right too...$699. Finally, I found the community to be extremely helpful. The final upshot of all this is that I am single handedly the developer and system administrator of a couple of XServes running WebObjects and mySQL currently getting the application IBM certified with DB2 and WebSphere. This with just one code base that detects the database at runtime. WebObjects is an outstanding product.

The more I read about how JAVA is trying to fix J2EE etc., with Hibernate, Struts, etc., the more it is trying to be like WebObjects. Give WebObjects a try and you too will go eureka!

If the intelligence is already built in, i.e., algorithms are already in place, where is the evolution? These mutations are all previously encoded.. nothing then is random here. To me, evolution is like the marketplace. Someone *creates* a product from the spirit of their mind. Suddenly, this idea/product stimulates other peoples mind to create a very similar product but of slightly different encodings. Now suddenly we have all these similar but differnt products. I mean, don't these scientists really see this? Evolution is just a description for a post creation effect. Sheesh. Let's see, the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics was proven mutable, the speed of light is not constant, can't we now just think different? ;-) jimijon.com
