Yeah, the PS3 is a better bit of engineering, but then so was the Neo Geo.
When a lot of us got 360's, it wasn't "a little cheaper", it was a LOT cheaper. The PS3 also didn't exist then. Even when it did come out, it was months before you could get your hands on one, and then you had to contend with the price tag. All this adds up to having all your friends buy a 360, which only means you're going to buy one so you can play with your friends.
I know people who have bought 360's, even recently, in addition to their PS3's because all their friends have 360's.
I've done the same with my bank. Called em up, said, "yup, those guys at paypal, they robbed me". It took about 10 minutes total. They took the money back and gave PayPal the finger. Problem solved.
PayPal is the disgusting shithole of online payment processing companies... really always has been.
I kinda nodded my head in agreement through most of this. However, I have to part at the studies as the only things worth being around for. Self fulfillment, learning and understanding the amazing things around us... that's all great, but you can grow bored with it. I honestly think we judge our self-worth by the role we think we fill in the world around us. Unfortunately for the typical, sullen introvert (me), that means your interactions with other people.
I NEED to be around other people, despite my object-at-rest tendency to avoid them. I NEED to have someone to share things with. I NEED to be important to other people. After all that I ENJOY learning about the world around me and making things tick, video games, photography, whatever-floats-my-boat-today.
That probably should not be allowed: it's one thing to put something away for a rainy day, but when corporations end up so flush with cash that they can influence entire markets and ruthlessly suppress competition something is wrong.
I'd disagree. Having money is not wrong. Being able to leverage it to influence a market in a way that's detrimental to the public is bad and should be addressed separately (FTC, FCC, etc). I agree that that doesn't happen enough and that's a problem. I don't, however, think the solution is to severely cap cash reserves for corporate entities. What they do with their resources is the business of their decision makers and shareholders, just so long as it doesn't hurt me.
3rd party PCI compliance audits, or at least the sort we used to pay for, are a joke. We used to have them done despite the fact that we don't need to be PCI compliant. They're little more than simple port scans. It's ridiculous, and they charge lots of money for this.
Naw. You have always had an option with PayPal to do a deeper integration and have the payment processed "behind-the-scenes" without sending someone to PayPal to finish the transaction. I believe Google Checkout has a similar option, though I've only written cart processing that sends you to Google to complete payment.
Carrying 10 to 15 percent of your maximum balance will probably increase your score faster than paying off the balance every month (because people who are willing to use credit are better people to extend credit to than people who don't want to pay interest).
I was told this isn't true. Anyone know what the deal is with this? I hear it all the time.
No, I think you'll find it's having a hard-right President and Congress commit war crimes by launching an illegal war while crashing the economy which is what elects leftists into office.
You give people too much credit. Nobody here gave a damn about "an illegal war" during the presidential election. What they didn't like was the state of the war and that banks were foreclosing on their homes. People on both sides deserve to take bullets for that.
And then I watched in horror how much, much worse it could get - what happens when you have a Republican rather than Democratic president who "responds" in a lather of panic and pride to a fairly small terrorist incident.
You're fucking kidding, right? "Fairly small terrorist incident"? What, pray tell, do you consider a serious terrorist attack in backwater NZ, tough guy?
But, well, he's half-black. And he got elected! That's, whuh, we still can't quite stop pinching ourselves. If you guys don't realise what a massive foreign policy boost you guys get just from having him there...wow.
That's just stupid. The foreign policy boost is because he's half-black? How shallow and superficial is the world community? It couldn't have been because he's more eloquent and careful? Bullshit. Stop speaking for the rest of the world.
Your whole post stinks of typical, thoughtless US bashing. A common thing here, but it usually has to be more rational to snag mod points.

I don't think he's saying that we shouldn't, rather that it's already been done to death.
On the contrary, this article was looking for new things to complain about, it just did a poor job.
I think eBay created the Craigslist we know for exactly this reason.
AMX is known for being good about that. ;)

The concept of buyer protection with PayPal is a mirage anyway.
Doesn't seem relevant. The flip side of the question is did the non-gaming Seattle residents prove to be happier?

I know the original owners sold out, I meant it's a brave idea for the current owners. It's unlikely to work, but I'm glad they're trying.
That's a bold idea that's unlikely to work. I think it's great that they're trying though.
I hate problems where the solution is "educate people" and "change minds". :(
Seriously.
I mean, SQL injection? That's just disgustingly stupid and lazy.
I'm curious, that sounds like the label/artist relationship, anyone have a general % idea of what music artists usually make?

God damn man, how much of that Kool-Aid did you drink?

You're kidding me, 10-14% is a good royalty rate for an author?! That's disgusting.
Jeez, don't you think it a little disingenuous to write a for profit book based upon the efforts of a bunch of programmers working for free?
Why do you assume that the programmers worked for free? OSS doesn't mean you have to work for free.
Helps with typo-squatting, etc. Keep the domains with high returns and ditch the others. Don't even have to pay for the ones that don't pan out.
"Setting up DNS records" is (in some ways) vague and is relatively hard to enforce.
What they have now apparently accomplishes its goal. Best I can tell there's no problem left to be solved.
Agreed, and in the meantime, let them know why nobody is going to use their IM Client anymore.

Can you trust the drivers on your commute route not to suddenly get out their guns and start shooting at you?
You obviously don't live in Chicagoland.

There's no practical need for this tech it's just looks cool.
How many times have I heard this? ;)
