  1. Re:Oh sweet Jesus on Starting a Cable Company? · · Score: 0
Umm, because nobody has tried? I know I'd sign up for a competitor in a heartbeat if one was offered in my area. If you are looking for an area that doesn't have cable then forget it, almost all suburban areas in the US have cable. If you have a shitload of cash to invest you could easily go toe-to-toe with the current monopolies, just remember when the mini satellite dishes came out, cable dominated, now most people have a dish. Of course I could be talking out of my ass, but I doubt it

  2. Interesting Trend... on Ettiquette For Restarting Abandoned Open Source Projects? · · Score: 1, Informative

Alot of open source projects have died of late. It would be nice if new developers would pick up where the old ones left off. There are also alot of projects out there that are in need of help. For example ReactOS, an open source, modular windows NT clone has a bright future, it just needs more developers. It is currently farther along then any other 'windows clone' project around. I'm not affiliated with the above said project. There are also alot of closed source projects that are dead, but those are another story ---- MetaWorx Software (Under Reconstruction)

  3. The real question is... on Toledo Uncappers Getting Shafted · · Score: 0

The real question is could comcast pull this off? I mean I called them up on the phone and ordered service. I had my own cable modem, I didn't install their software, therefore I NEVER AGREED TO ANY TERMS OR SIGNED ANY CONTRACTS. They never told me 'to order/use this service you must agree to our terms' either.

  4. Re:It had to happen. on EMI Promises Downloadable Music · · Score: 0

My cousin has over 600 cds, yes 600 CDS full of illegally downloaded music. And she is just your average AOLer. I don't see EMI doing too well when you consider that people would rather get something for free then pay for it. The average person thinks downloading music IS legal because they use it for personal use only.

  5. Re:Good for Mozilla on Hard Drive of the Future: Ram Drive · · Score: 0

Not really, no matter how much RAM you have, you are still always going to need swap. IIRC WinNT/2k/XP all swap inactive/unused pages to disk. Although you could easily use a regular RAM Drive program rather then buying an expensive hardware solution.

One major limit is heat. The article doesn't say if the CPU was air cooled or not. It could be water cooled for all we know.
