I agree completely. But i want to add that Slashdot is going to hell. The past 2 Ask Slashdots have been about stupid ISP issues and really arent news.
You're hard on stuff? I have gone through 4, 825$ screens on my Dell Inspiron 8200. And currently I am waiting for a tech to come to fix the 4th screen, the second case, and first LCD holder thingy. Oh and i went through a motherboard. Thank god for that 300$ warranty. Saved me oodles of cash. Ah the joys of high school
My old Nokia 3360 was thrown off a 6th floor balcony, into the sand, spent the night, and then worked fine. All without the back of the case and the battery. Sand was all over the thing.
Still, outlawing something that even 20% of the population does is pretty insane
Drugs are outlawed and i am pretty sure more than 20% of the population do drugs.
I had been playing quake3 for well over a year and my rail skills were pretty good. I went to camp for a month and took an elective called shooting sports. I got to shoot a shotgun for the first time in my life. My first time to ever shoot at moving targets. I was in a class with people who shot lots of guns, and I did the best:P
I am a 9th grader, and my school gives people the option of getting a laptop in grades 9-12. There are laptop and non-laptop classes. The both usually follow the same information at the same time. Computers have their ups and downs. In some classes they are used everyday. In others (Algebra for example, but i know geometry uses them) we never use them. It mostly depends on the teacher and how he/she sets up the curriculum. My only class where we do more than take notes (besides the occasional project) is biology and french (our book is online). It also depends on how well the teacher keeps track of what his/her students are doing. I know in french it is very easy to do something other than what the teacher is saying to do.
My school uses edline.net. They started using it last year for grades, absesnces, and posting homework. Other than the fact that my parents check it, it is cool.
Well 9.0 has been out since the 18th. It just wasn't on the front page of slackware.com. Look at your changelog to see, or try "cat/etc/slackware-version"
What happens if the hard drive fails? The CNet article says that the filesystem is stored on the hard drive. And how much space will the file system take up? I hope they have thought of this.
Maybe this was started by a security company. Then people come to them looking for the patch. Then the security company charges for the path == profit.
OpenVerse has done this for years. You can have an avatar of any gif, and the rooms can be different backgrounds. You can goto different countries. Bubbles popup when people speak, or you can have a text based chat. But in openverse you cant walk, but you can move. This doesnt stop me from siging up for
this.
If this could hold more data (atleast 50GB>) I could see it being used in a server, or atleast a gaming computer. The only drawback is a dedicated source of power.
They may not have time to download big movies/anime, but they do have time to download a music video, or short video clips [sick things (faces of death, death things), or funy video clips]. In my english class someone sits next to me and does it all during class with kazzaa.

There are programs that will do this for you. I thought the same, and did not have to look hard for one. Try "autopkg" or "slacker"

This is a hoax. If you check the PGP signature, you can see that it isnt valid.
wow dont i feel stupid. no wonder math is my worst class
"you'd still need to rip over 100 to justify even 1 TB, and who the hell rips to just vob"
DVD's ripped to VOB are around 6gigs each, not 1gig. I have DivX that are over 1 gig. And I rip to VOB sometimes thank you very much.
I was looking at 80gig hard drives a couple of months ago, and I noticed that they were around 80$.
Stick with analog. The human ear cannot hear digital, only analog, so there isnt much better quality unless you have super ears.

Try adding the domain to the HOSTS file, do a search and you will find it. Add something like this:
127.0.0.1 burstabit.com
I am glad to see that the federal government is addressing spam. Now if they could make it illegal, that would be better.

Note: I removed the explanation of each bird so it would not be too long.
Alicanto, Anka, Ba, Bennu, Feng-huang, Harpies, Heloha, Ho-Ho/ Ho-Oo, Hyrcinian birds, Karshipta, Melatha, Nunyanune, Pegais, Pheng, Phoenix, Poua-Kai, Roc/ Ruc/ Rukh, Shang-Yang, Simurg/ Senmurv, Skyamsen, Stymphalian Birds, Thunderbird, Tlanuwa, Ziz
If you would read the article, it says it does not do that. It would instead put it in noises the ear filters out.
Yes you do, look at the city list, New Orleans is listed. Too bad its a school night.
