    Until i read (and verified) that just about nobody outside sun does anything for openoffice.
    Of the core group, only 4 are not sun employees, so there is nothing like e.g. the kernel or kde.

    No matter how fast or slow those computers (or better specific algorithm executers) will be is unclear, but forget thinking in Ghz or something for Quantum Computers.

    Actually, you are a bit wrong with that:

    Those if properly managed, just using them as single disc would result in lower access times then RAID 0 is you can independently access files on the different discs instead of blocking all head for retrieving a single file. And as they are only connected via Gbit lan, STR doesnt matter anyway.

    GOOD systems actally know when your speed and the steering activities, so the sanity filters are virtualy flawless.
    Once the car fixes you position, there needs to be some serious problem to get lost, even in very tight corners.

    Because you are comparing apples to oranges.

    They dont use hot swap and raid5 for the same reason google doesnt run on mainframes:
    Its just cheaper to let a higher level logic take care of that stuff instead of strapping redundancy on every node...
    Why hot swap if it isnt needed? The rest of the node will be mirrored somewhere else, so for the cost of fitting out everything with HS bays you could get 5 or 10% more nodes...
    Same for raid5: good high performance Raid5 controllers would increase the system cost by 50% or something. And then its not less expensive than just mirroring nodes.

    Its a cluster, so of course you can take one node out.
    But its only the raw meat. In order to really use it, you need a storage solution taking care of things like redundency, node restore, ect.

    Well, that really sucks as a replacement. Because we all know that cops with cevlar and helmet NEVER get hurt or killed when fighting criminals... Yeah
    Its SO hard to hit the legs or arms, and even if you insist on hitting the torso, if you use a rifle the protected guy wont be happy after a short time even if the vest can stop everything...

    Im sure you are joking? I mean, for that money, you can get a good suit&belt, right.
    But certainly not a BULLETPROOF suite with radio transmitter in the cowl and sonar and whatsoever. And no belt with grappling hook and the other gadgets.

    IF it were possible to really create such equipment (very doubtful), i would guess for those 2:
    100-250K R&D (depending on niftyness)
    20-40K Building (its no mass production, plus it has to be confidential, you can just order batarangs at ammo'r'us)
    10-20K yearly wear&tear cost

    Even if your suit will stop 99% of all bullets, and your fit enough to beat thugs people into submission 95% of the time.... ... If you go crimefighting every night, after a few months youre chances of being a corpse in some alley are really really good.

    In all the instances of your last paragraph showing stuff that "is stealing", another party was deprived of income.

    Not so with ripping Open Source. The copyright violating party may GAIN samething, but the creator doesnt lose anything.
    Its just the same argument people make for downloading music/movies.

    There are emulators available for just about everything, and even if in a future time those emulators wont be available for the then current OS/cpu architecture, x86 emulators sure will exist, so one could just run the emulator inside the emulator...

    Like the other said, you dont do anything wrong.
    The site is only currently REALLY bombed, but your client will check every x minutes, and as soon as the site is up again it will start. Just run it in the background, as long as it cant connect to the tracker it will use hardly any bandwith.

    A hint for you:
    A 650W PSU doesnt draw 650W if its only under 100W load.
    So my 350W enermaxx is perfectly happy drawing 50W when the pc is idle. Its efficiency may be lower, but thats not THAT huge of a difference.
    AND PLEASE, learn your units. Saying "drawns more voltage then needed" really makes you look stupid.

    If you put a hd, a 50W cpu, 512MB high speed ram and a GPU in a console, it doesnt magically NOT use that much less energy than in a PC.
    And using DC on a console defeats to total purpose: using idle cycles, mostly on little used computers.
    If you turn the computer on to run the DC client, you are doing something wrong (and if you BUY stuff to run DC clients, please die)
