    A website has other usability standarts than a local application.
    You cant scroll results, there is no interactive preview of the hits, you cant easily toggle sorting after different criteria, you cannot specifically index selected folders, you cannot filter results by source folder, you cannot jump to the correct position by clicking the link, ect,ect,ect.

    Just hide a id number in the "random" point dithering used in colour prints... It would come from the electronics, so no use changing toner/ink cartridge..

    Known troll is a bit harsh for someone who has not one posting moderated as troll in his message history.

    Plus eatersn german schools taught russian, not english, so his storry could be plausible. I know people who are worse at english.

    Then why no pdf? Everybody has pdf.
    Most of my documents folder is pdf, so google desktop is quite useless for me.

    Doesnt search pdfs.
    Despite being locally intalled, used unwieldy web-frontend.
    Buggy. (either by design or not, it stopped after scanning 1200 files. Could be that it only scanned the Myfiles folder, but there is NO option to get it to index a folder you select...)

    sorry, no pdfs... And not very usable either... If i install a programm on my desktop, i expect a better user-interface than a local webserver.

    Try copernicus desktop search.
    Its free, seachers pdf and has a preview window for the search results.

    Well. Wrong.
    Back then, they didnt create glass by pulling it out on molten tin, so their sheets were uneven in thickness. so of course they put the thick side down for stability reason....

    Glass doesnt have a phase transition while cooling, thats true. But still it reaches a hardness at room temperature where the force to move 2 atoms against each other is greater than the breaking threshold.
    Sorry, no normal glass is melting or deforming at room temperature.... (but at 200 or 300 C the matter is quite different)

    Its magma chamber never collapsed, the loss in heigh was because the top of the mountain broke away in a landslide.

    with that logic, every cd player and audio amp should sound the same, becasue all dont have any compression....
    Many heathphone outputs SUCK, with dropping highs and bass, or spikes in the 2-3 khz are, ect. Dont know if the ipot is good or bad, but there ARE more differences than just compression. Und if your frequency response is wrong, its much more audible in practical use than the minimal differences between compression formats

    this looks like typical slashdot doublespeak.
    MHT is just lhz compressed html files. "creating" them should take about 10 minutes on a fast workstation if they have their documentation already in html format.
    If there is any big delay, then the "DRMing" (blarg. If that is DRM, then is zipping your kernel with bz2, too) is surely not at fault.

    Any dvd player i have seen makes more noise spinning the disc as any of the silent hds (samsung or seagate .7 series).
    Obviously you will tell me that my ears dont work, that you can hear better or blah. I dont care. just dont spread fud.

    It isnt really one 2 channels... More like 2 organisations...
    There are the main channels ard and zdf, regional channels, arte (culure channel), br alpha (science channel) plus 3 or 4 more.
    Also there are some douzend radio stations funded by that money, too.

    Every AC adaptor i have ever seen for notebooks get fucking hot. These adaptors cant be much worse then a typical one, since they are on the market for years and there have been no large series of burnings.
    You should rather be thankful that they give you new and improved stuff on the remote possibility that something bad could happen with the old ones.

    Yeah. He drove with 200km/h over an hour, then he decelerated for 20 km... and all the while he didnt run into a toll-station (those things are literal readblocks. i wouldnt dare drive through one with 100km/h even if its cleared, with 200 ist suicide), didnt face 2 trucks overtaking each other, could call with his cell phone (one handed driving at xxx kmh).
    Plus an automatic can be set to neutral (a stick shift car the gear can be releases), so he could slow down (even if the engine would fuck itself up).
    Or he could try breaking. even f1 cars can break faster then accelerate....
    This story has SO many holes in it it stinks...

    Because OGM is only a package format (like avi) and XVid is everything but legal (thus those "only for learning uses" disclaimers) because they simply decided to ignore the patents ( and divx is adware because divx-networks pays the royalities)
