    The same episode also had them surprised that a finger in the barrel of a gun, even though it couldn't stop the bullet, would actually cause enough pressure buildup to deform the gun barrel at the tip.

    That episode had a terrible spin on it. For those who didn't see it, they were trying to peel the barrel of a gun like a banana and blow up on the shooter, as you see in cartoons. The jammed all kinds of shit in the barrel, fake wax fingers, several inches of compacted dirt, and even welded a metal spike in the barrel!! In none of the cases was the shooter ever harmed. They concluded that guns aren't fun. WTF?!??! These guys are fucking idiots. The real story is how safe gun manufacturers build their product.

    Nice job confusing the use of a P2P client and infringing on copyrights. P2P is fine as long as the material has been declared free to share. (i.e. most linux distros)

    The Turks would quite naturally have more seats in the European Parliament than either the French or the Germans, and would tend to vote for policies benefiting the poorer countries of the East who have recently joined.

    But isn't spreading wealth what makes socialism great? You're not trying to say that Frenchies and Germans are racist against non-whites are you?

    The big deal is that these muslim kids can break windows and set cars on fire for 11 or 12 days yet when their blog is found, they are immediately round up and arrested. The grandparent was jokingly asserting that the response was very "French."

    I don't think anyone will argue that retail work sucks. Stocking shelves and working as cashiers are jobs for highschool kids. Expect to be paid HS kid wages.

    That's why you don't install non-packaged apps into the system directories. Install in /usr/local, or /opt as you already seem to know about. There are also programs out there like GNU stow and CMU depot to help manage your non-packaged installations.
