If I operated linear networks like, say, Caltrans, the California Water Project, any number of river gauges or the California Independent System Operator (electric power broker), I'd probably see this as 'relevant to my interests'.
Douglas Adams "SEP" reflects my concern about the electric utilities' power factor issue.
But then I'm STILL pissed off about those market-based brownouts in California some nine years ago.
Yep, all true.
I should have said that we are only replacing what's usually referred to as the IDU (Indoor Unit) pieces. We already own hubs, stationary and mobile earth stations. The Kromos gear (among other things) circumvents the TCP congestion algorithm. As I understand it, TCP interprets the propagation delay over the space segment as network congestion and throttles throughput way back.
My employer is currently looking at the IP3 (they say cubed) product fom Kromos.com
We are pleased at what we have seen so far of the product and the engineers' willingness to address concerns we have so far expressed.
"The problem with anecdotal evidence...."
In my experience individuals live life as a series anecdotal events. Aggregating data is great, but kids get stuffed into lockers one at a time.
The thought of this case being heard in that fine old (damn-near impossible to maintain) Frank Lloyd Wright-designed county building is a balm to the soul.
Makes me proud to be a fellow Californian.
(And Gummint employee to boot!)
My employer is in the hole to the tune of USD$30,000,000,000.
You might think that this would be a sensible time to think about OpenOffice, Samba, open-source DB's.

same same for Underlight. Ah well, my daughter seems to enjoy it.
By my all time favorite SF author, Robert A. Heinlein. Too bad every time they make a movie of one of his novels, it's dreck.
