I can't stand the default install on any off-the-shelf computer Get yourself a mac and it will actually be in a useful state to build upon when you get it. No crapware, no ads, no huge glaring security issues, even if you decide to connect the machine to a network.

When you have the repair done by mail, they are unbelievably efficient. New parts, in my experience of about 4 repairs over 5 years and 3 machines, tend to ARRIVE the day after you call. Repairs are typically back in a couple of days.

And for most things short of a full computer replacement (for example, new mouse, new battery), they'll send you a new one and ask you to just send the old one back. And again, it arrives the next day.

Aside from them dropping "phone support" from the 91st day through the end of the 1 year coverage period, I could not ask for more.

I reiterate that you are not alone in your frustration. You didn't fail to adopt Linux, Linux didn't fail to meet your needs, it was the entire community and their business practices that failed you. No, it was Microsoft that failed her, not the 'entire community'. Linux people work hard all the time to integrate, and they don't always sell it.

Microsoft is the problem. They keep their 'standards' unstable to prevent linux (and others) from adapting.

  11. Re:Well... on Sony Open to Considering PS3 Price Cuts · · Score: 4, Insightful

They seriously need to figure out that, when someone buys a game system, we want to PLAY GAMES ON IT. We don't need to watch movies, listen to MP3s, view images, surf the web, do our dishes, and drive to work using the same machine. Ahh but mostly likely when Sony's people asked people if they would use those extra features if they put them in there, those people said yes. So Sony did that, both the with the PSP and now the PS3.

And then consumers whined. "They cost too much"

and then Sony said, "But you told us you wanted those features when we asked you about them so we put them in there. You had to know that would raise the price." BIG difference between wanting a feature and being willing to use it if it's there anyway. Sony had to know they had no business asking about the extra features if they couldn't do them cheap or free. Now they are stuck having to wait a little longer for everyone to buy PS3s. Waaaaaah.

I check lots of gallery images (which don't have previews and reload the damn page for each image) and didn't see one that looked like a diamond. WTF, those are way off the diamond grading scale for clarity. It's like you got them out of a cracker jack box.
