Maybe so, but geeks (me included) will want choice. How will the business people know that UserLinux is the one true distro any more than they know that Debian is the one true distro now?
If the masses knew that it was another operating system, most of them would use the CD forn a frisbee. My mother recoils in horror when I suggest she should consider installing Linux.
I don't like Apple doing this, but I also know that they've done many good things. Nearly any large company will have a moron somewhere who will do bad things, but Microsoft is made up of such morons.
Let's face it, the average (grand)mother still think of Netscape 4.x when they hear the name "Netscape". I like Mozilla as much as anyone, but Netscape 4 was a nightmare - and most consumers agree.
They just let us know there was cheating, but no one in power will look at them. Look at the presidential election in Florida 2000!
Fedora might be nice if I could actually install it. The install fails on some package or another every time for me.
Wonder who dropped it?
Their definition of "budget" is $3,140? Someone give me their budget right now!
It was always easy, just throw it into the darn ditch by the side of the road! (Yes, this is funny. Laugh.)
I've tried endless times to get her to try a live CD, she's scared of them too.

What makes Linux so great is that there are so many distros, and I can choose the one I like. One distro can never compare to hundreds of them.
Archive.org, Google Cache, etc. all help.

But if you don't know what a CD is, having it won't help much.
Sounds cool, but probably ahead of its time. Who really needs that kind of security?
Wonder how SCO owns these?
Seems like a bad decision, even for Microsoft. Virtual PC was a good tool from migrating from Linux to Windows, not the other way around.
