  2. Geeks vs Masses on Y2K: Fuel the Panic, the NBC Movie · · Score: 1

I think most of the masses will watch this movie, the media and network TV love to make those "..Could this happen to you.." style movies Ex."Earthquake"(NYC earthquake movie) and the outbreak sort of movies. Me -I'll be watchin X-files with the rest of the geeks. -Kris

  3. I disagree on NetSlaves · · Score: 1

I didn't go to colledge -my story is Very close to this kids but I'm 23 and have a better job. The trick is work above expectations at a shitty job in a big company and you will excell, then the company will train you and you will have something a degree can't give you -real world experiance.

I know people with masters in CS that don't know what SSH is, I wouldn't hire them -but I would hire the geek/hacker kid that has 3-5years in a do everything position at X company with training from Y and Z company.

  15. If I was smart... on SGI to layoff ~ 3000 employees, sees 2Q profit (UPDATED) · · Score: 1

    If I was smart...
I would look at the 40% drop in there stock today and wouldnt go near there company for anything. The lay off hurts more then that -think about the moral of the workers(am I going to get layed off today?), think about them trying to hire back anyone- would you go and work there now?

  16. Im e-mailing him now... on SGI to layoff ~ 3000 employees, sees 2Q profit (UPDATED) · · Score: 1

I hate seeing companys drop 3K people to pull a greedy profit, to me this sounds like bad managment and just plain horrible people planning.
If I was in charge of buying computers at a graphics co I would think twice before buying from a company that does this.

  18. Tesla not Darwin on Digital Power Line Gets Buried · · Score: 1

This is a proven technology in the lab and field. Part of the reason Nortel dumped this is because of direct competion in there DSL and Lan City Cable Modem divisions.

  19. Re:Free clients on Sun introduces the "Sun Ray" · · Score: 1

Im down with this- If sun gave me these with the whole schloo of Enterprise boxs my company buys I would put one at each site in a rack and just admin from there -slap my smart card in and all set. But other then that personally I dont see a use for these -maybe tech support people, most have a tendancy of installing warez or winUNfree code.

I completly agree, the FCC is to late on this. There is a huge underground shoutcast/icecast radio broadcast cult going on right now. And the cool thing is theres no commercials-no FCC regulations-its free AND you have a pick from top 40 to techno to talk radio even cell fones.

  25. Re:Road Runner - for the record on AOL Happily Releases Information to Cops · · Score: 1

I also work for Mediaone/Road Runner and I just wanted to say. AOLs abuse team will bug us to NO end for days about simple BO scans and small issues. Try and send them an e-mail -you will get no response. If I had my way I would ban the AOL domain entirely for not following internet standards and netiquette. They need to shape up and get real. Also there was something about a crash cart incident... ;)
