If they GPL the code, how on earth do they make ANY money? This makes no sense. Sure, they could ease up on the monopolistic practices, but nobody in their right mind would GPL the code. Developers have to eat, too.
Exactly. Those fucking ungrateful developers need to realize that I've spent years of my life trolling this discussion site about how awful their software is and I demand SOME comepensation. The code to the software that they have produced (which sucks ass, by the way) would be nice. Dumbass.
Well, you know that supposed fourth dimension, time? Could it be possible that at the time of the writing of the first one there wasn't one but now there is? Over time things change...I'm sure you can find it in a book somewhere.
Oh, and then there's the "to our knowledge" clause. Maybe they're just not as knowledgable?
There's no period after the h. the H is really short of IHS, Jesus' Greek monogram. Hope you've been englightened (that's semi-Linux...don't mod me down...please?).

I have no idea what compelled me to search for the text, or read the entire thing. But I'd like to know: where do people find these stuff, and who the hell posts it on Slashdot!?
First of all, Arabs did not necessarily take Jewish land. Those Arabs that were there 75 years ago were most likely descendents of the early Israelites, they were not necessarily new people. Even if they were indeed forced out of their land, Jews are NOT taking away Arab land, the United States is taking away Arab land and then giving it to the Jews who want to settle there. I'm saying that it's not necessarily right, however it's not so bad, to take somebody's land, but for God's sake, live there if you're going to do it!
"Jerusalem" is mentioned over 350 times in the Old Testament. It isn't mentioned even once in the Qu'ran.
What's your point? The Jews lost it (or, dare I say, were converted to Muslims...wait...did I say that out loud?), and the Arabs came in. So what if they had it 4000 years ago before the religion of Islam was founded? Now they don't. So who is the United States and the Zionists to kick the Arabs who had been living there all of their lives out and say, "the guy who wrote this book that I read says that he used to live in Jerusalem, therefore its mine"? The name of the city, Jerusalem, means "city of peace" (Jerusalem...Moslem [the old spelling of "Muslim"..."salem" means peace, as in Moslem, "people of peace") is an Arabic word, for God's sake! The land that the Native Americans used to live on was never once mentioned before 1492 in England. Just because people once occupied some land doesn't mean that years later their descendents should claim that land. And don't give me that bullshit about the Jewish Israelis taking away Jerusalem like the Arabs took it years before...they are not taking it away, the United States and its money is taking it away.
Actually...the religion of Islam is very highly based upon Judaism, most specifically the Old Testament (and the New Testament, at that). Sure, he doesn't like Jews, but many Muslims don't because they believe that since the days of early Judaism they've been corrupted. Oh, and then there's the fact that modern-day Jews have stolen Israel and Jerusalem from them in the 1950s. Oy vey.
It seemed to work well for Clinton. And the world wouldn't have one more reason to hate us (this who Iraq business). I don't think I'll use my karma bonus for this one. By the way, anybody care to explain to me why one would not use their karma bonus other than the obvious reason, to only have a +1 when it starts out? Or why anybody would not want it in the first place?
That's the general consensus. And as you said, "dammit" is not wrong (in fact, it's probably more correct than "damn it"). That's the point I was trying to make, because the grandparent poster was saying that it was blatently wrong. Thank you for your time...that is all.
"Dammit" is the de facto standard for running "damn" and "it" together to form an interjection. The difference lies in that "dammit" is an interjection, while "damn it" is a verb and a noun. When you say "damn it," you are damning whatever "it" may be. When you say "dammit" you're just showing a sign of anger or frusteration. Nice try...but no.
Napoleon was from Corsica and spent the early years of his life fighting against the French. Sure, he had amazing victories later on under the French flag, but he was eventually beaten by none other than the French! I believe that they're one of the only countries to lose even when they win in a non-civil war.
This seems sort of ridiculous, only because of the power of our processors. Do you really thank that one x86 processor which is connected by no more than a 256 kb/s connectionis going to be worth more than $5 a year or so to the ILM? I think not. They want huge Sun servers with gigabytes of memory which can crush numbers that rival that of the bloat of your Mozilla installation which you use to download the software. The money that you'll be earning will not be enough to buy more than one CD every couple of months, let alone the massive quantities of anything you can get your hands on needed to fill that 200 gigabyte quota you need to get onto that amazing DC++ hub you'll be downloading.
Dell and Gateway and all of the other big computer makers chose to include Microsoft products with their computers because they found that based on Microsoft's licensing practices (and don't give that bullshit of it being un-ethical, they can chose to sell their products for as much or as little as they damn well please) it's more economical to buy the liceses en masse. Are we going to start calling it the Logitech tax because we can't buy a computer without a mouse or keyboard--most likely made buy Logitech? Get off your fucking perch and stop preaching.
The Microsoft tax? I paid no tax for my operating system. When I bought my computer I fairly compensated programmers for their hours of work. If you don't like their products, fine, but nobody is making you use them (don't even try it...they aren't). I assume when I drive my car I'm paying the Honda tax? Is this concept of paying people for their work a new thing to you people? Grow up and stop bitching and calling it the "Microsoft tax." While you're at it, stop replacing the S in MS with a dollar sign. Maybe you enjoy getting something for nothing, but I'm sure there are some people out there who enjoy eating and living in a real live house. 'Cause GPL doesn't pay the bills.
As long as you don't call me a gypsy, I'll be anything you want me to be. For free. And not to worry, because you have already won! While you at it, why not add 15,301" (FIFTEEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED ONE IMPERIAL INCHES) to your penis?
You're a horrible person, comparing AOL's filtering of spam to the Holocaust? Please explain to me the relationship. AOL is stopping people from abusing its servers. The Nazis killed Jews, homosexuals, Poles, Roma, among others. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. Don't let me ever catch you using the three letters F, U, and D in the same sentence ever again.
That must be one huge-ass novel if you need 4.7GB to back it up. Even if each page was 1000 words at 6 letters-per-word, that would fit ~627,000 pages.
Kind of ironic that when you're creating a file that you need to restrict people from because you don't trust them to follow simple instructions it's called trust-worthy computing, eh?
Users...not accounts. You can have up to seven (last I checked) users per account. That means that if you estimate that each account has four users (highly likely considering that many people make screen names and then abandon them but don't delete them), then that's only about $200 million. If you subtract costs, and then remember the fact that AOL Time Warner includes many other money-losing enterprises, it's not easy to see how they'd be losing money. Oh, and then there are the high-priced whores...

C'était la phrase française la plus incompréhensible que j'ai vue.
For example, I'd get my ass sued if I made a new operating system and called it 'Linux2'.
Er...no...I think you're sort of missing the point of Linux.
In French, adjectives when relating to countries are not capitalized. It should be "français".

I think for .99 cents it would be more worth it to just buy the damned thing. I believe you mean $0.99...

You know it's a reputable browser when it doesn't have mouse motion thingies. Er...well...maybe not, but...but...use Opera.
