The problem may actually be the fact that there has not been enough time for games to develop a statis as artistic. Popular music, for example, was not considered art until the Beatles released Sgt. Pepper's. Video games may just need that one game which has an appeal that transcends gamers and is accepted by the masses as truly great.
On the other hand, board games have been around for quite a long time. Even though we have classics such as Monopoly, I have never heard anyone refer to a board game as art. It is true that video games by their nature allow the developer more freedom and vision with elements like story, tone, and characters but it is important to consider that traditional games are not usually considered art.
Seriously people, come on. Is this the new thing that is corrupting our youth? I know that the article did not actually say that, but it was infering to it. This must be the line of thought of these people forming the laws-"The cafe is a place where young people congregate and there seems to be some crime there...well i guess we better start regualting that place." Why not look at the causes at the problems, not the effects. Why is there crime there? Did it have anything to do with the cafe? Will this law really change anything?
I like to use the toolbars that you can make out of folders. I like to make one auto hide at the top of my screen and drag all my application icons to it. It functions like a dock. Then i use my desktop as a workplace. I actually never use the startmenu at all.
Actually, it would be kinda interresting if the windows version that is being leaked is just vaporware, something to keep everyone heppy while the real version is being developed.
A philips screwdriver is always needed. I would suggest getting a packof different sizes. Laptops i've worked on have used smaller screws. besides that an extra ethernet cable is always handy, a crossover helps too. Maybe an extra ide cable would help.
You make a very good point and I understand why an EULA might be bad. However, I believe that copyright laws are a little vague. Maybe a change in the law that makes useage rights clearer would be helpful. I mean, would it be possible for my right to copy music to my computer be taken away if in some future date the RIAA says so? Maybe some law that protects the end user's rights would be helpful.
So I do not have the write to nake a personal copy on my computer. By the very simple copyright law I need to get the owners permission. Or, is it implied from the fact that it is a cd-rom that I can copy the music to my computer? I am sorry, but with the RIAA sueing people over the use of their product, I want to be told EXACTLY what I may do. I don't want to just assume that something should be legal.
The closest thing that I can find to a licencse agreement on the actuall product is "all rights reserved. Unauthorized duplication is a violation of applicable laws." That really says nothing. If all I am buying is a license for the right to listen to a cd then I want that in writing with the cd. There are EULAs with software, why not music? I want to know my rights and have the ability to return the cd if I do not agree with them.
I perfer linux over windows but that does not stop me from giving microsoft a chance. All posts have been anti microsoft. Did I see anything interesting in the posts? No. I only saw rantings against microsoft.
I find the sign language glove very interesting. I also believe that the confrencing robot would be usefull and save traveling time and fuel.
I am not a microsoft zealot, but I don't take any chance that I can to put it down.
So this game is kinda like Rebel Assult 1 +2. Not only do you get to fly around but shooting people on ground is included. I just hope that Factor 5 does each piece correctly, I wouldn't want a game that does 5 things poorly versus one thing perfectly. The multiplayer sounds cool, but the gamecube still needs to get online! It would be so much cooler if you could have giant multiplayer battles. Oooh, just thought of it makes me quiver.
The third screenshot shows an ethernet port above the actual gameboy component. Does this come with it, and if it does, will there also be a modem version?
"Like the toy-like GameCube and the movie-playable PlayStation (PS) 2, Game Boy will remain the leading handheld game machine while PSP will become more like a network-capable electronic gadget."
I don't believe that the dvd capability of the PlayStation 2 is the reason why it is at number one versus the games.
Also, this article makes the PSP seem much more like a pda than a gaming machine. I just don't see the impetus to shell out all that dough and abandoning the gameboy, which I have games from ten years back, to get a coglomonated device when I have all of those functions taken care of in individual entities.
Now I will get a little off topic and admit that this is just another ploy of Sony's to gain world domination. With the psx, hopefully, it will be present in every home, documenting media exchange. The RIAA will back Sony as its secret police ubduct any pirates. Then, through shadow corporations it will slowly take over national governments throught the UN. Or, it could crash and then Microsoft will take over.
This story was on The Screen Savers tonight. For those that don't know, it is the number 1 tech show. They interviewed Steve Wolf of Wolf-FM. Heres a link to the site they gave out: http://www.saveinternetradio.net/
I believe that people should be able to make their website anyway they wan't, even if it is not accessible to everybody. However, websites run by the government must be accessible to everybody. A business should have the right to choose if it wants to add support to blind users, but if it doesn't, money goes to the compertitor that does. I think that it would be great if there was blind access everywhere, but I think it is wrong for it to be forced upon people.

So have they gotten osx to work on it yet?
Haven't we learned anything from Half-Life or Doom? Teleportaion can only lead to some race trying to enslave humans. Ya, science is soooooo great.

Isn't it weird that the logo for Aplle's suite of applications is a puzzle? Is not a puzzle also used for Microsoft Office?
