Besides, you will need to be able to recharge it anyway, so why not look for something that can be put on a table with a long core for recharge?

TBH I think the OHS people would shit themselves if they ran into tablets connected to long cords for recharging.

I think the better idea is a kiosk which has more functionality, connected to power and is less likely to "walk away"

I'm sorry but loaded questions like these should never make it to the list because THERE IS NO ANSWER only OPINION!

Asking a question such as this is like asking what car is the best one for driving? It's subjective and only causes flame wars.

What's the "best"? Well, the "best" is the "right tool for the right job".

Find a language that suits the job (ie. does it require quick turn around and easy coding, go for a scripting language, if it requires scaling and enterprise level features then pick a language that suits), then if the language has frameworks that do what you need them to do, then select one based on those values rather than a blanket, "what's the best".

Everyone in here stating that one language is better than another should be sent to the naughty corner as they should well know by now that EVERY bloody language has it's pro's and con's.

The reason encryption hasn't taken off is that it's not done by default, and can't be enabled by clicking a checkbox.

Actually that's probably the most likely of scenarios. It's not easily integrated into everywhere you'd send an email from and therefore is inconvenient.

Sensitive data CAN be transmitted through the public internet as needed, but stored there? Come on, only morons do that!

Being responsible for data is like being responsible for a child, you expose it to things that are APPROPRIATE for the data and shield it from the rest!

In the end, WHERE your data is hosted is irrelevant. Your data is probably being indexed by thousands of robots, cached in people's browsers, shit, your data could exist in thousands of places you've never even thought imagined! Get over it man!
