Remember when the only company you ever saw a game box or even in the credits was just the publisher?
It will change, just give it time. I certainly know I never bought a game because it was published by Interplay, but I've damned near picked up every title I've ever seen made by Black Isle.
on the skeeball balls:
you can also find cheap thick hard plastic black ones. Think of them as giant golf balls. They work well at the arcade I work for and they'd crack the concrete under our rugs before they would break.
His previous videos were very... amatuer at best. I remember one of my biggest peeves of them being the voice and music. It was always the blaring techno in the background that would be thrown in and the terrible mics used to get voice. You would hear maybe, 3 words and the rest would be muffled.
Another qualm I had with his earlier works was that these are supposed to be videos of how these events draw crowds and how that this is in fact a sport now, but what he would do is talk to the players and ask them *why* they are playing and how they like to play. Newsflash: they get paid for it.
But, this video is top notch. The sound is so much better. It's obvious he put a lot of work into making it *sound* better. The quality is very high, although I would like it to be nativly louder, as I had to turn up my speakers quite a bit to hear their voices, but that's not a big deal, as the background music was lower than the voice. The presentation of the entire video itself was very great. If I had not seen the earlier videos I would think this was done by a great studio. It looks like TechTv had a special on e-gaming. I am very pleased with this, and hope we see much more.
but it is doomed to failure. I can see so many ways to exploit it is described, but I won't mention a word of it until I see it in action,I just hope it's more complicated than it seems.
Anyways, this seems like a great idea if modified a bit to be more strict. It would be perfect for UO as a goldsink. Get 500? knock off a $1 off your monthly fee. Make it to where you can only have max of $10 knocked off(that is if they did really raise the monthly fee to 12.95 like they said they would).
I still am a bit wary of actually *making* money off of a mmo. I only know one person who actually *lives* off of selling things in mmos, and well he is an EQ junkie, and to say the least I knew speed addicts that lived better.
gun control isn't just about people watching where they put their own, it goes from the people who sell them, to state background checks to see who gets them.
The difference between an idiot and a criminal is quite simple. While Jimmy Two-Tone the village nut might get upset if you don't give him some gum for being quiet, he's not going to blow a hole in your stomach for the cash register.
coming from someone who is actually playing World of Warcraft:
It's not going to rock a damned thing. If the devs keep up what they have planned they are going for the market that is already there. Nothing new or innovative at all is appearing in World of Warcraft as far as i know. I know in a few more patches they are going to test a new feature, that *might* make the game rock a boat(hint hint) but for now, what is planned is a generic mmorpg. It plays like everquest mixed with AC1.

Communism is a great idea that would work perfectly if everyone followed it.... and no one was greedy.

"...and pointed it at the head of a staff member"
So... he was obviously using an aimbot.
There are more ways to get an M rating on a game than having blood and gore. It's mature rating is very correct.
Namco was thinking about the entire LAN experience: they left room for modding.
I can't wait for them to make star wars diapers again .
