Ok, listen up. This is going to be an interesting jump into the workings of how ONLINE NEWS BLOGS ARE GOOD FOR MISINFORMATION.
Slashdot links to article from GamesAreFun. Who took the article from:
Joystiq.com who says
"Unconfirmed reports are already bombarding the airwaves! It seems that the 'Dead Pixel Syndrome' that has plagued the DS launch is also ruffling Sony consumers' feathers. Some reports cite as many as three dead pixels on a single LCD. Other malfunctions include: broken UMD mechanisms, loose analogue controls & stuck buttons. We'll be sure to update you with Sony's response..."

Now, joystiq.com got this from another newsblog called Spong where they said this:
"As with the launch of any new console (particularly from Sony, a company which has seen its credibility as a manufacturer take some serious knocks in recent times) early adopters have been quick to lodge build-quality complaints with the media.
Of these, the PSP has been on the receiving end of a considerable number of dead pixel moans, akin to those accompanying the Nintendo DS. The worst complaints are of three pixel outs on a single unit, though most report solo duds.
Other complaints stem from basic build-quality issues that inevitably impact on small lead-time new technology releases. Of these, stuck buttons, fragile analogue controllers and faulty UMD mechanisms have flared up most often, though in the main - and compared to the launches of the PlayStation and Xbox - the PSP seems to have been put together rather well. If SCEI reacts to the dead pixel issue, we'll let you know."

Now they link back to slashdot. Unknowingly that they started the whole mess(I'm sure they recieved this article from rumors being spread around on a forum somewhere god knows).
So far, people have already become aware that yes, an lcd can have dead pixels, almost every mass produced lcd does get these.
The umd shooting, has already been proven false. As well as the nubs that fell off. How these were believed in the first place I have no idea. The videos looked neat, but have been proven to be trickery. I hope this doesn't happen again.
the hard and NA are not issues with the pstwo. They were not in the design for it, simply because Sony didn't want them in the pstwo design, it was their choice, and it was backed up. the pstwo was meant to be the traveling man's console so to speak(like the psone, and it's mini-lcd).
The memory card issue, was a REAL issue.
Breaking/Overheating, is NOT an issue. I'm sure if you drop it, or play the thing on carpet, or in wool, it might be. But in general wear and tear use, it is not.
Please if you going to use Sony quality standards as an agrument point, please refer to the old walkman problems, the real ps2 problems(the ever so small fraction, that is much smaller than the xbox harddrive error fraction, that have problems with blue discs) or something similar.
I've seen the video... and read the articles... but I still don't believe it that much. Dead Pixels I believe. Even the DS has this problem(as did the GBA and GBASP). But I have yet to see anyone report problems of the nubs not working or their psp not turning on except on this one small site linking to another small site.
If this is an issue, I put it in the barrel of consumers causing the problem, or just being a very small number of people, below 1%.
The UMD popping out, seems a little odd. Twisting the unit, I can understand, I mean, it's a small portable device, I could do the same with my old walkman. But during normal play? I doubt it.
Let me explain. When I first started playing football video games, my team was blue, and my players were white. That didn't ruin the experience for me.
From what I understand, as long as Sega, 989(which I think stopped making their sports line) and whoever never mentions a player name or team it's ok. Instead of the Giants, we'll have the Ogres. Maybe even bring back Mutant league football who knows?
Although previously stated, how about just include a huge make your own team mode? With your own team and rooster, you can basically emulate any team correct? Allow the game to auto-config player stats by just using their most recent stats(for example if the avg yards run for Johnson was 20, it could give you 1 out of 10 in your running stat.
I'm just brainstorming here, but I think that this is actually pretty good. EA gets a huge buissness deal, but that will only hurt the uncreative. Only people who think that names make a football game will be hurt by this. So that means 989 stuidios:) (I really shouldn't try that, they have been working rather hard)
umm... coming from someone who lived in that city for 19 years, I can tell you that first and foremost the "most violent criminals" do not live in that prison. The prison itself is really low security compared to most and it's used most of the time for lower crimes or people ending their last few terms or just people that have been on good standing.
I'm seriously surprised at the slashdot communtity this time around. We constantly argue how games do not make violent people, only violent people do. But on this end of the deal, the games make them more violent just because they are criminals? We've always argued it allows a outlet for aggression and tension right? Why not in this situation? These are not crazed lunatics in this prison, most of them did what they felt like they had to do in many situations.
I hate to throw another topic out but what if, just what if, they had games like these when they were kids?

umm... your logic is correct in thinking that we *could* feed everyone in the world but you need to understand that is impossible. Who do we give this food to? The local governments? We have tried that before(and are still trying) and it ends up being used to control their own peoples. Now onto your coffee beans question, coffee beans are a very different kind of plant. I'm sure you know that. Even if we did grow veggies everywhere, it's just vegetables. A better claim would be this:
For example, Missouri. Missouri has thousands of acres of tabacco fields. If the cash crop in Missouri was changed to hemp( a plant that is good for the soil, and can be used in crop rotation, thus allowing more veggies to grow ) the state alone could support America's paper(hemp is good for that) and lumber industry(fake wood). By throwing a field of hemp into crop rotation Missouri's farm's are more efficient and thus their yields are higher. The excess can be used to sell(more profit for farmers) or donated to a charitable cause(thus tax deductable on farms, which would save them thousands of dollars thus giving more profit to farmers). Now apply this to every farmland that is suitable to growing hemp(hemp isn't very picky) including taking out whole fields of tabacco.
The world now has food, and coffee. Everyone is happy right?
Too bad it's flawed logic and would never work.
It saved his life. Seriously. Remember the bar fight? Yea I bet you don't, you were too drunk to remember. Dick. Anyways, it was brutal, if FF didn't step in and cool down those bums, I'm sure we all would have had a little part of us die that night, along with the death of the original parent of course... the very brutal bum beating death.
your so full of shit it's hilarious.
First valve has stated numurous times before HL2 that eventually the won servers would come down and all content would be only available through steam. Second, valve runs MANY servers for some of the more popular mods(CS mainly).
I am very pissed off at this, and EA for continously cancelling good games. Anyways to topic:
This isn't an MMO, it is not UO2, it was supposed to be more of a 3D diablo. Where you could team up and get zones with friends to fight in, and build up a character to eventually a pvp world.
I know many people here are not into everquest, and this article doesn't touch on it, but exactly what is this "$30.00 patch for missing content" providing? Most of us are not everquest players, so it would really help if someone here who is, would mind explaining this, it would be very helpful.
to be fair, the diablo like properties have made the game tons funner, but the one thing they forgot to do was remake the monsters...
my mules kick ass now, and that's not fun, I like things to be hard, that's why for 4 years I played a fisherman! Now my fisherman can pk, that's not right!
It's not nice to make fun of homosexuals. Be fair, they(as a collective group) probably wouldn't hold such a immature grudge against a company, like the original parent.
this isn't a real pic... ummm... and if I remember correctly wasn't it just something a magazine made based on what *they* wanted the next handheld to look like?
umm... in EarthBound they make many mentions to the player, the controller (you know the top yellow button, *whoops I said that! I meant to think it* AH I'm saying what I'm thinking and thinking what I'm saying! *oops!*) and in mgs they made multiple mentions, one of the main parts of the game relies on you to find your cd case so you can find meryl's radio frequency.
but does this mean in the entire area they can cover, they only found enough proof to accuse 247 of them? I'm sure more are to come, but why not just file suit against more?
also, yes, I thought it said pornographic...
Your one of those people that bought the virtual boy because mario tennis was awesome right?
So let me get this straight, smart people don't buy stupid generic movie based games apparently... smart people buy rehashes of popular 80s titles? It's all the same to me.
I am in awe of the moderation of this post...
"soul calibur 2" succeeded right? Now was that because the other two versions were of lesser quality or because it had link in it? yes, cube owners are just too smart to fall for those simple advertising ploys right? I'm sure if another high level company made a marketable game, maybe even some kind of additional equipment being required, you would buy it, I mean what else would you buy?
Also, I don't think i need to mention that lucasarts is not on the same level as acclaim.
I know your being sarcastic, but yes in fact many people have not heard of medieval total war or could even link it to their developer if that have heard it.

read the article.
So I no longer hate the writer at least.... now all I need are letters from the other hundred or so people destroying the Doom name.
indeed, I meant to say .1% but was lazy at the time.
Link to comment about sony refusing to do so?
Just curious, because I have yet to see them say anything.
