Windows isn't done either. If it was, they wouldn't have to keep releasing new versions. The only time any software project is truly finished is when it's abandoned.
I used a "finished" OS once. OS/2. Not much fun towards the end.
I fail to see how a round of navel-gazing before any actual information was available would have done anything to alleviate the irrational paranoia surrounding nuclear power. If anything, it would have just made things worse, drawing conclusions before there was any real data to work with.
Yes, but you'd have to launch off of Earth first, so instead of going directly from Earth to your destination, you'd have to land on the Moon and then launch off of it again, which would require more fuel.
Give me a list of the tasks a typical secretary performs, and I'll tell you which ones could be automated by a few simple scripts.
Sorry, but I've never had a secretary, nor have I ever been a secretary, so while I have a general idea of what they do, I don't know many of the specifics.
Yes. A more accurate analogy would be someone who drives using only the gas pedal because the steering wheel/brake/etc. are too hard to use. You don't need to understand every drivetrain component in order to drive your car, just as you don't have to know how to build a CPU in order to use a computer. However, you do need to learn how to use all of your car's controls in order to drive it effectively, just as you have to know how to use CLIs and do some simple script programming in order to use your computer to its full potential.

You can inherit Chia-Earth.
Look on the bright side, at least you'll get free T-Shirts.
1) How many people still use Eudora? For that matter, what's wrong with the multitude of GUI e-mail clients already out there for Linux?
2) The Linux kernel has supported automatic device detection for quite a while now.
3) That's been included in pretty much every modern distribution. Just type "apt-get install " and everything's taken care of.
eteet? Is that some kind of new digital cow-milking device or something?
Or the RIAA would just blame the drop in sales on filesharers and proceed to sue everyone and their dog.
Serves them right for not buying a fax machine like the rest of the world.
... using Wine.
Three words: Wholly owned subsidiary
Because the bullets were just special effects. The gun was real and could have injured Mr. Reeve/Reeves/Cain/etc.

It's worse than that. It's Brannon Braga!
The difference is, of course, that while IBM does a lot for Linux, they don't own it, and thus can't shut it down the way they did OS/2.
That's why I tend to stick with open-source, community-developed OSs now. I've learned my lesson after OS/2.
Actually, it's an OS/2 fork with added bugs, vulnerabilities, and security holes.
On Slashdot, Soviet Russia screws YOU!
On Red Mars, rednecks probe YOU!
I'll bet Eando Binder was saying the same thing when Asimov stole that title from him.

Am I missing something here?

So, would it be Mike Myers as Wayne Campbell, or Mike Mysers as Austin Powers?
Am I the only one who mis-read that as "Planck Dentistry"?
Pardon my ignorance, but how the hell are you posting to Slashdot with an ink pen?
I take it you've never heard of compression?
